Akvazan

Akvazan – antiseptic disinfecting and dehydrating drug for topical and external use, a wide range of antimicrobic action; it is active concerning viruses, bacteria (including tuberculosis mycobacteria), protozoa and mushrooms.

Form of release and structure

Dosage form – solution for topical and external use of 10%: film-forming liquid of dark brown color with a specific slight smell or without it, with alcohol, water, polyethyleneglycol, etc. mixes up in any proportions (on 10, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 ml in bottles of dark glass; on 10, 15, 25, 100, 250, 330, 500 and 4500 ml in bottles from polyethyleneterephthalate).

Akvazan contains in 1 ml of solution:

• Active ingredient: povidone-iodine 30/06 – 105 mg;
• Auxiliary components: trisubstituted sodium phosphate (a solution saturation to pH 2,5-3,5), the water purified.

Indications to use

• Prevention and treatment of trophic ulcers, contaminated wounds, burns, grazes, decubituses;
• Treatment of acne rash, pyoderma, dermatomycoses, infectious dermatitis, reactions on skin after stings of insects;
• Rinsing of a mouth and throat at stomatitis, a periodontal disease and other infectious pathologies of an oral cavity and nasopharynx;
• Processing of mucous membranes (including obstetric practice and gynecology);
• Hygienic processing of patients;
• Processing of skin before operation, injections, biopsies, punctures, the collecting blood, catheterization and other manipulations connected with disturbance of integrity of an integument;
• Processing of hands of the surgeon and medical personnel before carrying out operation, processing of tools and objects of patient care, antiseptic processing of hands at care of infectious patients.

Contraindications

• Adenoma of a thyroid gland;
• Thyrotoxicosis;
• Herpetiform dermatitis (disease of Dyuringa);
• Simultaneous use of a radioiodine;
• The neonatality period at children, especially at premature pregnancy;
• Hypersensitivity to iodine.

With care patients should use drug with a chronic renal failure, to women in the II-III trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Route of administration and dosage

Akvazan is intended for external and topical administration in the form of application or greasing.

Solution is applied without cultivation or in the form of aqueous solutions in a proportion 1:2, 1:10 or 1:100. Cultivation of drug needs to be made just before use. The solution divorced in the ratio 1:2 and 1:10 can be used within ten days, in the ratio 1:100 – no more than three days.

Route of administration and concentration:

• Processing of grazes, small wounds, burns and other injuries of skin: without cultivation, wound a surface grease with solution or put to it the gauze slip moistened with Akvazan;
• Disinfection of healthy sites of skin before the manipulations connected with disturbance of integrity of an integument (a puncture, blood sampling, a biopsy and others): without cultivation, with exposure 1-2 minutes;
• Disinfection of skin, mucous membranes before carrying out operation and invasive intervention (including obstetric practice and gynecology): without cultivation, with exposure 2 minutes; the surgery field is processed solution twice;
• Rinsing of a mouth and throat: aqueous solution, cultivation 1:10, 4-5 times a day; for washing of lacunas of almonds at an adenoid disease drug is dissolved in a proportion 1:5;
• Processing of hands of surgical personnel: without cultivation, on 5 ml on each hand pound palms within 5 minutes from brushes to an elbow, after careful rinsing, repeat the procedure;
• Treatment of infectious pathologies of mucous membranes and skin: without cultivation, process the problem site within 1-2 minutes;
• Hygienic processing of the patient before surgery: in proportions 1:100, a body of the patient rub off the sponge moistened in solution;
• Prevention and treatment of complications after invasive manipulations, treatment of purulent wounds: without cultivation or in a proportion 1:2, greasing an affected area of skin or imposing application;
• Treatment of burns: without cultivation or in a proportion 1:10, considering a condition of a wound, the dressing material should be impregnated with not divorced solution;
• Treatment of bacterial and fungal dermatitis: solution is dissolved in a proportion 1:10;
• Treatment of scratches, small wounds, burns, fungal and bacterial damages of skin in house conditions, including processing of healthy sites of skin: without cultivation.

Side effects

• Local reactions: a passing burning sensation in the place of use of drug;
• Hypersensitivity reactions: skin rash, contact dermatitis, itch.

At overdose (use on the extensive area of mucous membranes, skin, wounds, burns, and also the long and frequent use) development of a neutropenia, hypothyroidism, a craw, the iodism phenomenon (urticaria, rhinitis, the increased salivation, a Quincke's edema) is possible. In case of the above-stated symptoms it is necessary to cancel drug.

Special instructions

Activity of drug decreases quicker at a temperature above 40 °C and on light.

In case of easing of intensity of dark brown color of solution its efficiency worsens.  

Not to allow hit of solution in eyes.

Bactericidal action of Akvazan in the presence of blood can decrease.

Medicinal interaction

Akvazan pharmaceutical is incompatible with the disinfecting drugs containing mercury, alkalis, acids, oxidizers, reducers.

Terms and storage conditions

To store in the place protected from light at a temperature up to 30 °C. To protect from children.

Period of validity – 3 years.
