Otitis (from other - Greek οὖς, in a sort. the item ὠτός — an ear) — the LOR-disease representing inflammatory process in an ear.
Otitis happens outside (limited and diffuse), average and internal or otitis of an inner ear usually is called a labyrinthitis. The most widespread kind of otitis is average otitis.
Outside the otitogranichenny inflammation of an outside ear is more often presented by a furunculosis. The diffuse inflammation of outside acoustical pass is observed preferential at chronic purulent otitis.
Outside otitis. The limited inflammation of an outside ear is more often presented by a furunculosis. The diffuse inflammation of outside acoustical pass is observed preferential at chronic purulent otitis, owing to implementation in skin and a hypodermic of various bacteria, and also a fungal infection. Inflammatory process quite often extends also to a tympanic membrane.
Labyrinthitis. The main symptoms of a disease are shown, as a rule in 1-1,5 weeks after the postponed bacterial or viral infection. The leading manifestation of a labyrinthitis is dizziness. Often attacks of dizziness can be very heavy, make sick and vomiting. At a chronic labyrinthitis they last several minutes, at acute — several days. The nystagmus, balance disturbance are possible. Also decrease in hearing, a sonitus are noted. At a purulent labyrinthitis temperature increase is possible, and at diffusion purulent — even total loss of hearing.
The otitis etiology practically always bacterial, is also not excluded the fungal nature.
Treatment of Otitis:
At outside otitises introduction to outside acoustical pass of gauze turundas, the moistened 70% alcohol, the warming compress, physiotherapeutic procedures, vitamin therapy is reasonable. Antibiotics and sulfanamide drugs are used at the expressed inflammation and the increased temperature. At formation of abscess its opening is shown. At a diffuse inflammation wash out acoustical pass by disinfecting solutions.
Symptoms of a labyrinthitis can independently pass. If the disease is caused by a bacterial infection, antibiotics are appointed. Nevertheless, at more severe forms (purulent, diffusion, purulent diffusion) hospitalization is required. In this case constant observation, leaving, absolute rest are provided. At purulent forms pus outflow conditions are provided. At serous the treatment recovering functions of an ear and preventing transition to a purulent form is carried out. At easier forms when the labyrinthitis does not threaten to pass into a chronic form or to cause a hearing loss, disturbance of vestibular functions or intracranial complications, the symptomatic treatment is appointed: antiemetic, antihistamines, steroid and sedative drugs. At a bacterial inflammation dizzinesses even after elimination of an infection antibiotics are possible.
