Taurine

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient – taurine (тауфон) - 40 mg/ml; Excipients - methylparahydroxybenzoate, the water purified.

Description: colourless transparent liquid.

Pharmacological properties:

Taurine is the sulfur-containing amino acid which is formed in an organism in the course of cysteine transformation. Drug promotes improvement of power processes, stimulates reparative processes at the diseases of dystrophic character and processes which are followed by sharp disturbance of metabolism of tissues of eye. As sulfur-containing amino acid drug contributes to normalization of function of cellular membranes, improvement of power and exchange processes.

Indications to use:

Drug is appointed the adult at cornea dystrophies, senile, traumatic, beam and other types of cataracts, and also at cornea injuries (as a stimulator of reparative processes).

Route of administration and doses:

At cataracts appoint in the form of instillations 1-2 drops 2-4 times a day within 3 months. The course is repeated with a monthly interval. At injuries and dystrophic diseases of a cornea apply in the same doses within one month.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to taurine, children's age (up to 18 years), pregnancy and the period of feeding by a breast.

Storage conditions:
