Taufon

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 40 mg of taurine in 1 ml of solution.

Excipients: methylparahydroxybenzoate (methylparaben), 1 M hydroxide sodium solution to pH 5,0, water for injections.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Taurine is the sulfur-containing amino acid which is formed in an organism in the course of cysteine transformation. Stimulates processes of a reparation and regeneration at the diseases of dystrophic character and diseases which are followed by sharp disturbance of metabolism of eye fabrics.

Contributes to normalization of functions of cellular membranes, activation of power and exchange processes, preservation of electrolytic composition of cytoplasm due to accumulation of K+ and Sa2+, improvement of conditions of carrying out nervous impulse.

Pharmacokinetics. At topical administration system absorption low.

Indications to use:

Drug is appointed the adult at:

- cornea dystrophies;

- senile, traumatic, beam and other types of cataracts;

- cornea injuries (as a stimulator of reparative processes);

- to primary open angle glaucoma in combination with (β-adrenoblockers ((((((((((for improvement of outflow of watery moisture).

At all indications drug is used as a part of complex therapy.

Route of administration and doses:

At cataracts Taufon appoint in the form of instillations 1-2 drops 2-4 times a day within three months. The course is repeated with a monthly interval.

At injuries and dystrophic diseases of a cornea apply in the same doses within one month.

At an open angle glaucoma (in combination with a butilaminogidroksipropoksifenok simetit methyloxadiazol color and its combined forms or Timololum) - on 1-2 drops pass 2 times, in 15-20 min. prior to purpose of one of antihypertensives, within 6 weeks with the subsequent cancellation for 2 weeks.

Features of use:

Pregnancy and lactation. There is no sufficient experiment on use of drug during pregnancy, feeding by a breast. Taufon's use for treatment of pregnant women and nursing mothers to destination of the attending physician is possible if the expected medical effect exceeds risk of development of possible side effects.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions. If the side effects specified in the instruction are aggravated, or you noticed any other side effects which are not specified in the instruction, report about it to the doctor.

Interaction with other medicines:

At patients with glaucoma (open-angle) considerable strengthening of hypotensive effect of β-adrenoblockers ((((((((((Timololum and butilaminogidroksi-methyloxadiazol color propoxyphenoxymethyl) in case of combined use with Taufon is noted.

Strengthening of effect is reached due to increase in coefficient of ease of outflow and decrease in products of watery moisture.

Contraindications:

Individual hypersensitivity to taurine, children's age up to 18 years.

Overdose:

Data on overdose are absent.

Storage conditions:

Drops eye 4%. 1,5 ml, 2 ml or 5 ml in a tube dropper polymeric. 1, 2, 4, 5 or 10 tube droppers with the application instruction of drug in a pack from a cardboard. 5 ml or 10 ml in a bottle dropper polymeric. The 1 or 2 bottle dropper with the application instruction of drug in a pack from a cardboard.
