Taurine

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: taurine of 4 mg
Excipients: нипагин; water for injections

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacological action: metabolic, stimulating regeneration, cardiotonic, anticonvulsant, anti-cataractous.

Plays a large role in lipidic exchange, contributes to normalization of function of cellular membranes, optimization of power and exchange processes, preservation of electrolytic composition of cytoplasm (due to accumulation of potassium ions and calcium), is a part of the pair bile acids (taurokholiyevy, taurodezoksikholevy) promoting emulsification of fats in intestines. In a brain performs function of the neurotransmitter which is slowing down synoptic transfer, has anticonvulsant and cardiotonic activity. Causes normalization of metabolism of eye fabrics at diseases of dystrophic character.

Indications to use:

Dystrophic defeats of a mesh cover of an eye, including hereditary tapetoretinalny degenerations, cornea dystrophies, cataract (senile, diabetic, traumatic, beam), cornea injuries, an open angle glaucoma, cardiovascular insufficiency of various etiology (including against the background of intoxication cardiac glycosides).

Route of administration and doses:

At a cataract apply in the form of instillations 2–3 drops 2–4 times a day daily within 3 months; courses are repeated with a monthly interval. At injuries apply in the same doses within a month. At an open angle glaucoma instillirut in a conjunctival sac 2 times a day in 20–30 min. prior to Timololum instillation. For treatment of tapetoretinalny degenerations and other dystrophic diseases of a retina, and also at the getting wounds of a cornea enter under a conjunctiva on 0,3 ml 4% of solution within 10 days once a day; the course of treatment is repeated in 6–8 months.

Inside — on 0,25–0,5 g 2 times a day in 20 min. prior to food, a course of treatment — 30 days. If necessary the dose can be increased to 2–3 g/days.

Features of use:

There are data on efficiency of taurine as the means reducing intraocular pressure at patients with glaucoma.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions.

Hypersensitivity.
