PROGESTERONE

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 1 ml contains progesterone 25 mg; excipients: benzyl benzoate, olive oil.
 
Main physical and chemical properties: transparent oily liquid from light yellow till golden-yellow color.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Progesterone causes transition of a mucous membrane of a uterus from a phase of the proliferation caused by follicular hormone in a secretory phase, and after fertilization promotes its transition to a state necessary for development of an oosperm. Reduces also excitability and contractility of muscles of a uterus and pipes, stimulates development of final elements of a mammary gland.
 
Pharmacokinetics. It was not studied.

Indications to use:

Amenorrhea, anovulatory uterine bleedings, infertility, pregnancy not wearing out, альгодисменорея because of a hypogonadism.

Route of administration and doses:

Enter intramusculary or subcutaneously.
 
At the bleedings connected with dysfunction of ovaries – 5-15 mg daily for 6-8 days.
 
At a hypogonadism and an amenorrhea (after use of oestrogenic drugs) on 5 mg daily or on 10 mg every other day for 6-8 days.
 
For prevention and treatment of the menacing abortion on 10-25 mg daily or every other day before total disappearance of symptoms of a possible abortion. At a usual abortion the drug is administered up to 4 months of pregnancy.
 
At algodismenory treatment begin in 6-8 days prior to periods on 5-10 mg for 6-8 days. The course of treatment can be repeated several times. The highest single and daily dose for adults – 0,025 g intramusculary.

Features of use:

With care to apply at diseases of cardiovascular system, a diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, migraine, a depression; giperlipoproteinemiya, an extrauterine pregnancy, during feeding by a breast.

Side effects:

Increase in arterial pressure, hypostases is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Treatment is often connected using oestrogenic drugs or out directly upon termination of use of oestrogenic drugs. Barbiturates weaken effect of progesterone.

Contraindications:

Abnormal liver function, hepatitis, breast cancer and generative organs, tendency to fibrinferments.

Overdose:

It was not studied.

Storage conditions:

Store in the dry, protected from light place. A period of validity – 5 years.
