Cervical migraine

Description:

Cervical migraine is for the first time described in 1925 by Barre, and recently in details analyzed mainly Bartschi — Rochaix. There are idiopathic and posttraumatic cases.

Symptoms of Cervical migraine:

Pain is characterized by an unilaterality and irradiation from occipital area in front departments of the head. Pain is followed by various vegeto-vascular disturbances (dizzinesses, nausea, parasthesias, a hearing disorder etc.). Are the most characteristic reasons: osteochondrosis, bone destructions, injuries and posttraumatic processes in a backbone, instability of cervical vertebrae.

Reasons of Cervical migraine:

The state is caused by purely mechanical irritation of a sympathetic texture of a vertebral artery. Provocative factors are connected with change of position of the head: turns, inclinations, pressure upon a neck, tussive pushes.

Treatment of Cervical migraine:

Treatment of this pathology is connected with the specific etiological reason of process. Passive protection is possible. Carrying removable collars, cervical corsets, orthopedic pillows for a dream is for this purpose offered. An essential preventive role is played by elimination of chronic and tranzitorny spasms of muscles of cervical and chest departments, strengthening and coordination of muscles of these areas. Elimination of emotional tension has undoubted relevance since they sharply change a tone of face muscles, necks, shoulders, and thus provoke the beginning of an attack.

Medicamentous means: antiinflammatory (acetylsalicylic acid, indometacin), analgetics, ganglioblokator (Pachycarpinum), neuroleptics (Tisercinum, aminazine), spasmolysants. The mustard plasters attached to back area of a neck give good effect.
