Valerian tincture

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: spirit extraction from rhizomes with roots of a valerian 1:5.

Excipients: ethanol.

Vegetable sedative and somnolent medicine.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Causes moderately expressed sedation, facilitates approach of a natural dream. Sedation is shown slowly, but is rather stable. The complex of biologically active agents of a valerian has also spasmolytic effect.

Indications to use:

The increased nervous irritability, sleeplessness, migraine, hysteria, neurosises of cardiovascular system, digestive tract spasms.

Route of administration and doses:

Inside the adult till 20-30 drops 3-4 times a day; to children it is so much drops on reception how many years to the child.

Features of use:

Use of Tinctura Valerianae in a combination with other sedative medicines is not recommended.

During treatment by Tinctura Valerianae it is necessary to refrain from control of vehicles and performance of other work which requires special attention, bystry mental and motor reactions.

The possibility of use of medicine at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation is defined by the doctor.

Side effects:

At prolonged use can cause feeling of depression, a headache, drowsiness, nausea, decrease in working capacity.

Interaction with other medicines:

Strengthens effect of hypnotic drugs, sedative, anxiolytic, analgeziruyushchy and antispasmodics, and also alcohol. Cases of negative medicinal interaction at purpose of Tinctura Valerianae against the background of therapy are noted by other medicines included in the standard schemes of treatment of diseases of cardiovascular system and digestive tract.

Contraindications:

Valerian tincture is contraindicated to patients with a depression and other diseases which are followed by oppression of the central nervous system, to patients with hypersensitivity to medicine, and also children up to 12 years.

Overdose:

Symptoms. The chronic overdose causes feeling of depression, a headache, drowsiness, discomfort from digestive tract, nausea, decrease in working capacity, disturbance of cordial activity (bradycardia). The acute overdose is followed by strengthening of side effects of medicine, depression, drowsiness or excitement, nausea, vomiting.

Treatment. At chronic overdose no additional actions are required, except a dose decline or the temporary termination of reception of medicine. At acute overdose it is necessary to carry out induction of vomiting, a gastric lavage. Symptomatic therapy.

Storage conditions:

To store in the place protected from light at a temperature not above 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity – 5 years. Not to use after the period of validity specified on packaging.
