General characteristics. Structure:

Active agents: folic acid – 0.4 mg; cyanocobalamine (B12 Vitamin) – 0.002 mg.
Excipients: sodium carboxymethylstarch (Type A), magnesium stearate, lactoses monohydrate, cellulose microcrystallic, trisodium citrate, citric acid, maltodextrin.

Description: Flat, round, yellow tablets.

Pharmacological properties:

Insufficiency of folic acid causes the broken synthesis of DNA in the cell preparing for replication to a hromosomideleniye.
The mechanism of action is caused by participation of folic acid in the form of tetrahydrofolate in synthesis of nucleic acids and in cell fission, and also participation as coenzyme in synthesis of purines and pyrimidines that does it by a decisive factor in formation of the central nervous system which develops at the person for 15-28 day after fertilization.
Transformation 5 methyltetrahydrofolates in tetrahydrofolate in an organism can result only from joining of methyl group to a gomotsistein with formation of methionine as a result of action of a metioninsintetaza.
In this process B12 vitamin participates in quality of the limiting cofactor therefore insufficiency of B12 vitamin is similar on effects of insufficient activation of folic acid; besides, B12 vitamin also participates in capture of folic acid cells therefore when the cell has primary deficit of B12 vitamin, it has also deficiency in folate.
Pharmacological effect of drug Foliber is that its use allows to overcome metabolic blockade which is observed at mothers of children with defects of a neurotubule.
The specific nature of this metabolic blockade consists in metabolism of irreplaceable amino acid of methionine at which folate and B12 vitamin are key elements as they are responsible for repeated methylation of a gomotsistein in methionine.
400 micrograms of folic acid are the minimum effective daily dose recommended by the Centers for prevention of diseases (the USA, Great Britain and Australia) healthy women as additional daily consumption for the prevention of development of defects of a neurotubule in a fruit.
The recommended standard daily rate of consumption of B12 vitamin makes 2 micrograms.

Pharmacokinetics. Folic acid is quickly soaked up in a jejunum, being exposed to recovery and methylation to the 5th methyltetrahydrofolate which is present at portal blood circulation.
The maximum concentration in plasma is observed in 30-60 minutes. On the other hand, B12 vitamin can be soaked up after its interaction in a stomach with "internal a faktoromkasla", a glycoprotein which cosecretes covering cells of a stomach.
The maximum concentration in plasma is observed in 8-12 hours. As well as in case of folic acid, B12 vitamin is exposed to considerable enterohepatic recirculation.
Both components substantially contact proteins of plasma, surplus collects in a liver. Daily 4-5 mkg of folates are removed with urine in the form of folic acid, 10 formyltetrahydrofolates and 5 methyltetrahydrofolates. Folate is also removed with maternal milk.
The average elimination half-life of B12 vitamin makes about 6 days. A part of the entered dose is removed with urine within the first 8 hours though the most part is removed with bile. 25% are removed with a stake. Besides, B12 vitamin gets through a placenta and is present at maternal milk.

Indications to use:

Prevention of deficit of folic acid and B12 vitamin (cyanocobalamine) at women of childbearing age at pregnancy planning stages (not less than 1 month before conception), and the I trimester of pregnancy for prevention of development of defects of a neurotubule in a fruit.

Features of use:

Drug does not influence ability to drive the car and to work with mechanisms.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

M drug as he acts as the antagonist of folic acid, inhibiting enzyme to a gidrofolatreduktaz.
Administration of drug Foliber in combination with antiepileptic drugs from group of hydantoin can reduce effect of the last.
