General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredients: Mephenaminum sodium salt, vinylene;

100 g of ointment contain Mephenaminum of sodium salt in terms of dry matter 0,5 g, vinylene of 10 g;

excipients: polyethyleneglycol (400), emulsifier No. 1, water очищення.

Pharmacological properties:

Mephenaminum sodium salt which is the main active ingredient of ointment belongs to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NPVS). Possesses antiinflammatory action, interferes with education and release from fabrics of mediators of an inflammation (serotonin, a histamine, prostaglandins, kinin), and also slows down synthesis of active forms of oxygen (peroxide, the hydroxylic radical, etc.). Blocking preferential enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (TsOG-2), oppresses proliferation of granulyatsionny fabric in the inflammation center, at the same time stimulating regenerative processes. Slows down allergic reactions of hypersensitivity of the immediate and slowed-down types. Has soothing effect at muscular and joint pains which exceeds such effect of salicylic acid. Increases the level of local interferon and other cytokines.

Vinylene works bacteriostatically, activating processes of epithelization, accelerates healing of wounds.

Compound of these ingredients leads to strengthening of the antiinflammatory, anesthetizing and wound healing effect of ointment, prolongation of its effect. As a result of use of ointment the quantity of leukocytes in a wound increases and their ability to phagocytosis increases.

Ointment works preferential locally, is badly soaked up through mucous membranes and skin, has practically no resorptive effect. Duration of effect can fluctuate depending on the number of purulent masses and character of infectious activators on the surface of skin and mucous membranes, a wound surface. On average therapeutic action lasts within 8-20 hours.

Indications to use:

Ulcer and necrotic and inflammatory diseases of skin and mucous membranes: an exfoliative cheilitis, long not beginning to live cracks, traumatic ulcers of lips, an acute and chronic ulocace, aphthous stomatitis, nonspecific ulcers of an oral cavity; the anthrax, furuncles granulating wounds, trophic ulcers, eczemas, traumatic wounds of skin, burn damages, a miositis, a pseudorheumatism.

Route of administration and doses:

Mefenat to apply on the damaged sites of an integument or mucous membranes with a special glass shovel, the pallet or by means of gauze (wadded) tampons (napkins) 1-3 times a day. To apply an aseptic bandage the damaged sites of skin greased with ointment.

Treatment duration – 7-15 days, but in case of need it is possible to continue it.

Features of use:

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast.

It is not investigated.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport or work with other mechanisms. Does not influence.

Children. Not to apply in pediatric practice.

Side effects:

At treatment of the injured mucous membranes of an oral cavity short-term manifestations of irritation in an ointment site of application – reddening of a zone of application, a burning sensation with the subsequent numbness (easy local analgesic effect), an itch, hypostasis are possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

At simultaneous use with the salicylates derivative of pyrazyl ketone and other anti-inflammatory drugs medical effects are summed up, and analgetichesky action amplifies.

Contraindications:

Individual hypersensitivity to ointment components.

Appropriate security measures at use

 

At prolonged treatment with care to apply to patients with diseases of blood, kidneys, and also against the background of use of anticoagulants.

Overdose:

Cases of overdose are not described.

Storage conditions:

Period of validity 3 years. Not to use drug after the termination of the period of validity specified on packaging. To store in the place protected from light at a temperature from 8 °C to 15 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children.
