Pyrantelum

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent: Pyrantelum of 250 mg / 5 ml.

Pharmacological properties:

Anthelmintic drug, derivative tetrahydropyrimidine. Pyrantelum blocks motive nerve terminations of nematodes, causing death of parasites owing to paralysis of muscles. Drug affects mature and larval forms in an early stage of development thanks to what it is effective at many nematodoses.

Indications to use:

Enterobiosis and ascaridosis at children and adults, a dochmiasis, a necatoriasis, a trichuriasis, a strongyloidosis.

Route of administration and doses:

The adult with body weight to 85 kg usually appoint 750 mg (3 teaspoons) of suspension once; to persons with bigger body weight appoint once in a dose 1000 mg (4 teaspoons) of suspension.
To children at an enterobiosis appoint once during food at the rate of 10 mg to 1 kg that there correspond about 1/2 teaspoons of suspension on each 10 kg of body weight. At an ascaridosis appoint once at the rate of 5 mg/kg.
At treatment of an invasion of a threadworm drug is appointed in the specified doses of 1 times a day within 3 days.

Features of use:

Careful observance of rules of personal hygiene is obligatory. At an enterobiosis it is necessary to carry out simultaneous treatment of all family members. After completion of treatment it is necessary to conduct control researches a calla on existence of eggs of parasites.

Side effects:

Drug is usually well transferred. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea are in rare instances possible.

Contraindications:

Pregnancy period.

Overdose:

Overdose cases are not described.
In case of overdose it is necessary to undertake a symptomatic treatment.
