Inosine

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 200 mg of inosine (inosine).

Drug has anti-hypoxemic, antiarrhytmic, anabolic effect.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Inosine is a predecessor of ATP, stimulates oxidation-reduction processes in a cell, increases power balance of a myocardium, improves coronary circulation, increases pharmacological protection of the kidneys subjected to ischemia during operation. Reduces aggregation of thrombocytes, activates an angenesis (especially a myocardium and a mucous membrane of a GIT).

Pharmacokinetics. Drug is well soaked up in digestive tract. It is metabolized in a liver with formation of glucuronic acid and the subsequent its oxidation. In insignificant quantity it is removed with urine.

Indications to use:

Inosine is applied at coronary heart disease (a myocardial infarction, chronic coronary insufficiency); cardiomyopathies of various genesis, at the disturbances of a rhythm connected using cardiac glycosides, at dystrophic changes of a myocardium after exercise stresses and the postponed infectious diseases or owing to endocrine disturbances.

Inosine is applied also at patients with liver diseases (cirrhosis, acute, chronic hepatitis) and by urokoproporfiriya.

Besides, inosine is used at an ischemic kidney operations as means of pharmacological protection when blood circulation of the operated body, and also for prevention of a leukopenia is temporarily switched off at radiation exposure.

Route of administration and doses:

Tablets of inosine apply inside to food in a daily dose from 0,6 to 2,4 g. In the beginning drug is appointed on 0,6 — 0,8 g a day (on 0,2 g 3 — 4 times a day), then in the absence of side effects within 2 — 3 days the dose is increased to 1,2 g (on 0,4 g 3 times a day), by 1,6 g (on 0,4 g 4 times a day) or to 2,4 g (on 0,4 g of 6 times a day). The course of treatment lasts from one to three months.

Features of use:

With care appoint the patient with a renal failure.

Side effects:

At use of inosine the individual intolerance (an itch, a skin hyperemia) is possible. In this case drug should be cancelled.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity, gout.
