Ammonia solution

General characteristics. Structure:

Water 10% ammonia solution.

Pharmacological properties:

At inhalation drug causes reflex excitement of a respiratory center. At intake causes emetic effect. At topical administration has antimicrobic effect, well clears skin.

Indications to use:

Drug is used as means of ambulance for initiation of breath and removal of patients from an unconscious state. Sometimes appoint inside as vomitive. Also use in surgical practice for washing of hands.

Route of administration and doses:

- For initiation of breath: moisten a cotton or gauze plug with drug and carefully bring to nasal openings on 0,5-1 sec.
- Inside appoint only in a divorced type till 5-10 of the drops divorced in 100 ml of water.
- For preparation of solution for washing of hands of 25 ml of drug part in 5 l of warm boiled water.
 

Features of use:

At ammonia solution steam inhalation in big concentration the reflex apnoea is possible. At intake in not a divorced look drug causes burns of a gullet and stomach.

Side effects:

Hypersensitivity reactions to drug are possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

So far are not revealed.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug. Topical administration is contraindicated at dermatitis, eczema and other skin diseases.

Overdose:

Data on overdose are not provided.

Storage conditions:

In usual conditions, in the place, unavailable to children.
