Glucose of 20%

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 200 g of glucose in terms of anhydrous in 1 l of infusion solution.

Excipients: sodium chloride.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. At introduction to a vein of hypertonic salt solutions (20%, 30%, 40%) the osmotic pressure of blood increases, liquid current from fabrics in blood amplifies, processes of a metabolism increase, anti-toxic function of a liver improves, sokratitelny activity of a cardiac muscle amplifies, vessels extend, the diuresis increases.

Indications to use:

20% solutions of glucose are used at a hypoglycemia and diseases of a liver (hepatitises, cirrhoses, a hepatic coma), for osmotherapy at an emuresis, a collapse and shock, at serious infectious diseases, a decompensation of cordial activity, various intoxications (poisonings with drugs, cyanides, carbon monoxide, etc.), at hemorrhagic diathesis. Full parenteral food or partial. Solutions of glucose can be applied as independently, and according to indications in combination with other medicinal substances (sodium chloride, potassium chloride, NAEDTA, etc.), and also to be used for cultivation of medicines.

Route of administration and doses:

Hypertonic salt solution of glucose (20%) is entered only into a vein on 10-50 ml once or kapelno to 300 ml a day. If necessary introduction of large volumes of hypertonic salt solution of glucose is allowed. For fuller digestion of the glucose entered in large numbers along with it appoint insulin from calculation: 1 unit of insulin on 4-5 g of glucose. Sick diabetes glucose is entered with care, under control of content of sugar in blood and urine.

Features of use:

At repeated administration of solution disturbances of a functional condition of a liver and exhaustion of the insulyarny device of a pancreas are possible. Because of increase in osmotic pressure of blood of 20% solution is entered into the central vein by means of a catheter.

Contraindications:

Relative contraindication is the hyperglycemia at a diabetes mellitus.

Overdose:

At overdose of hypertonic salt solutions of glucose development of a hyperglycemia is possible. For its correction use insulin, and also carry out symptomatic therapy.

Storage conditions:

In the place protected from moisture and light at a temperature from +5 to +30 °C. Period of validity 2 years.
