General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: xylomethazolinum of a hydrochloride of 0,5 mg or 1 mg.

Excipients: Sodium phosphate monobasic two-water, sodium phosphate double-base twelve-water, sodium chloride, EDTA dinatrium, a benzalkoniya chloride, methylhydroxypropyl cellulose 4000 mPa.S, sorbitol of 70%, the water purified.

Description: Almost inodorous transparent colourless solution.

Pharmacological properties:

Xylomethazolinum concerns to group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with α-adrenomimetichesky action, causes narrowing of blood vessels mucous a nose, eliminating, thus, hypostasis and a hyperemia of a mucous membrane of a nasopharynx. Facilitates nasal breath at rhinitises.

Inactive components - sorbitol and methylhydroxypropyl cellulose which are humidifiers are a part of drug. The moistening formula allows to prevent or reduce the symptoms of irritation and a xeromycteria arising at long use of xylomethazolinum.

In therapeutic concentration drug does not irritate mucous, does not cause a hyperemia. Action comes in a few minutes and continues within several hours.

Pharmacokinetics. At topical administration it is practically not absorbed, concentration in plasma are so small that they cannot be determined by modern analytical methods.

Indications to use:

Acute respiratory diseases with the phenomena of rhinitis (cold), acute allergic rhinitis, a pollinosis, sinusitis, an eustachitis, average otitis (for reduction of hypostasis of a mucous nasopharynx).

Training of the patient for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal courses.

Route of administration and doses:

0.05 drop % in a nose for children: for babies and children under 6 years - on 1-2 drops in each nasal course 1-2 times a day; it is not necessary to apply more than 3 times a day, 6 years - on 2-3 drops in each nasal course 3-4 times a day are more senior.
0,1% of a drop in a nose only for adults and children are more senior than 6 years on 2-3 drops in each nasal course 3-4 times a day.

Features of use:

It is not necessary to apply for a long time, for example, at chronic rhinitis.

Use during pregnancy and a lactation. During pregnancy and a lactation drug has to be used only after careful assessment of a ratio of risk and advantage for mother and a fruit, it is not allowed to exceed the recommended dosage.

Influence on ability to manage the vehicle or the equipment: Xylomethazolinum, in the dosages exceeding recommended can influence ability to manage the vehicle or the equipment.

Side effects:

At frequent and/or prolonged use - irritation and/or dryness of a mucous membrane of a nasopharynx, burning, a pricking, sneezing, hypersecretion.

Seldom - a rhinedema, heartbeat, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increase in the ABP, a headache, vomiting, sleeplessness, a vision disorder; a depression (at prolonged use of high doses).

Interaction with other medicines:

It is incompatible with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, the expressed atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, a hyperthyroidism, surgical interventions on a meninx (in the anamnesis).

With care - at a diabetes mellitus.

Overdose:

Symptoms: strengthening of side effects. Symptomatic treatment.

Storage conditions:

At a temperature not above 30 °C in the place, unavailable to children. Period of validity. 3 years. Not to use after the date specified on packaging.

Packaging:

Drops 0,05%, nasal for children, and a drop nasal 0,1% - on 10 ml of drug in a bottle from polyethylene of high density with a cover the dropper supplied with the control system of the first opening. The bottle together with the application instruction is placed in a pack from a cardboard.
