EYE UNGUENTUM ERYTGROMYCYNI

General characteristics. Structure:

 Active ingredient: 1 g of ointment contains erythromycin 10 000ED.

Pharmacological properties:

The antibiotic from group of macroleads possessing bacteriostatic action. The action spectrum includes gram-positive (staphylococcus, the producing and not producing penicillinases, streptococci, etc.) and some gram-negative bacteria (gonokokk, etc.).

Indications to use:

 Pustulous diseases of skin, contaminated wounds, decubituses, burns 2 and 3 degrees, trophic ulcers, trachomas, infectious diseases of eyes (conjunctivitis, keratitis, helcoma, blepharitis, trachoma).

Route of administration and doses:

Outwardly. At diseases of eyes put ointment in quantity 0,2-0,3g for the lower or upper eyelid 3 times a day, at treatment of trachoma of 4-5 times a day. The course of treatment depends on weight and disease and efficiency of therapy. Duration of treatment averages 1,5-2 months. A course of treatment at trachoma up to 4 months. At purulent diseases of skin after removal of pus ointment is applied a thin layer by 1-2 times a day, at burns 2-3 times a day.

Side effects:

At use of ointment irritant action (reddening, an itch) is possible.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to erythromycin.
