DEXAMETHASONE - BIOFARM

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredients: 1 ml of drug contains phosphate sodium dexamethasone (dexamethasone of phosphate of disodium salt) – 1 mg;
 
excipients: boric acid, sodium pyroborate, dinatrium эдетат (Trilonum of B), a benzalkoniya chloride, water for injections.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Shows the expressed antiinflammatory and antiallergic action caused by release oppression by eosinophils of mediators of an inflammation; induction of formation of lipokortin and reduction of quantity of mast cells which develop a histamine and hyaluronic acid, with reduction of permeability of capillaries; stabilization of cellular membranes (in particular lizosomalny) and membranes of organellas.
 
Pharmacokinetics. At instillations in an eye dexamethasone is soaked up through a cornea with an intact epithelium in moisture of an anterior chamber. At an inflammation of tissues of eye or injury of a mucous membrane and a cornea the speed of absorption of dexamethasone increases.

Indications to use:

Not purulent allergic conjunctivitis, blefarokonjyunktivit, a keratitis, a keratoconjunctivitis without damage of an epithelium, an iritis, an iridocyclitis, an episcleritis, a sclerite, inflammatory processes after injuries of an eye and surgical intervention.

Route of administration and doses:

To adults and children 12 years drug are more senior dig in 1 – 2 drop in a conjunctival sac: at acute diseases – 4 – 5 times a day (during 2 - days), then – 3 – 4 times a day (within 4 – 6 days); at a chronic inflammation – 2 times a day (the course of treatment should not exceed 4 weeks); after injuries and ophthalmologic operations (since 8th day) – 2 – 4 times a day (within 2 – 4 weeks).
 
To children at the age of 6 – 12 years drug is dug in on 1 drop by 2 – 3 times a day within 7 – 10 days.

Features of use:

During treatment it is necessary to control the intraocular pressure and a condition of a cornea. At increase in intraocular pressure drug should be cancelled. The patients using contact lenses should remove them before administration of drug and to put on in 20 - 25 minutes after administration of drug.
 
Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport or other mechanisms. It was not investigated.

Side effects:

Burning sensations, insignificant hyperemia of a conjunctiva, dacryagogue which disappear in 5 – 15 seconds after a drug instillation are possible. At long use of drug increase in intraocular pressure, in case of thinning of a cornea - its perforation is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

At long use along with yodoksuridiny strengthening of destructive processes in a cornea epithelium is possible. Drug can be used along with antibiotics, vitamins, observing a break between instillations of drugs not less, than 25 - 30 minutes.

Contraindications:

Viral and fungus diseases of eyes, acute forms of purulent infections in the absence of special therapy; cornea diseases which are followed by defects of an epithelium; eye hypertensia, trachoma, glaucoma; the increased individual sensitivity to drug components.

Overdose:

Considering a way of introduction, the overdose is improbable. Nevertheless, in case of overdose, excess of drug needs to be removed with flowing water.

Storage conditions:

In the cool, protected from light place at a temperature from 8 °C up to 15 to °s.khranit in the place, unavailable to children.
