Derealization

Description:

Derealization — disturbance of perception at which the world around is perceived as unreal or remote, deprived of the paints and at which there can be memory disturbances. Often is followed by states "already seen" (déjà vu) or "never seen" (jamais vu). Practically always arises together with depersonalization owing to what, in MKB-10 it is designated as: F48.1  — "A depersonalization-derealizatsii syndrome", that is, the term "derealization"  often is understood how group of the similar symptoms of "depersonalization-derealizatsii" which are responsible for change of perception of surrounding space.

Derealization's symptoms:

At a derealization surrounding is perceived changed, strange, vague, alien, illusive, dim, stiffened, lifeless. It is perceived as if "through fog, milk, a film, low-transparent glass" etc., often loses dimensions and perspective — "as in the photo". In other cases, compare surrounding with scenery. Acoustic phenomena change: voices and sounds move away, become vague, deaf. Paints of surrounding objects change, their color becomes dim, gray, etc. — "light grew dim, foliage faded, the sun began to shine less brightly". Time is slowed down, stops, disappears — "it does not exist any more". In other cases, feel feeling that time moves unusually quickly. Many claim that this state reminds a prolonged deja vu.

Derealization's reasons:

In most cases the whole complex of the reasons based on a deprivation is the reason of a derealization. At long suppression of numerous desires (it is frequent unconscious at all) and (or) from awareness of impossibility of achievement of a certain achievements in life at passionate desire to reach them, the mentality can use a derealization as the protective mechanism for itself. The fact that most of the people testing this state - perfectionists with the overestimated level of claims is explained by it. Also long chronic stresses, fatigue and drug taking can be the reasons (in certain cases).

Derealization's treatment:

However, as it not a disease, and only the investigation of the protective mechanism of the mentality given by a problem psychologists and psychotherapists deal. Treatment methods same, as well as at depersonalization. However, dominance of derealizatsionny symptomatology, over depersonalizatsionny, is a predictor (predictive parameter) of more favorable reaction to treatment.
