Iodine of 5%

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredients: 5 g of iodine, 2 g of potassium of iodide.

Excipients: the water purified alcohol of ethyl 95% (ethanol).

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Antiseptic agent. The main active ingredient is the molecular iodine having antiseptic property. When drawing iodine has resorptive effect on the extensive surfaces of skin: actively influences a metabolism, strengthens dissimilation processes, participates in synthesis of thyroxine and triiodothyronine, possesses proteolytic action. Alcohol slows down removal of iodine and reduces its irritant action by fabrics.

Has bactericidal effect both on gram-positive, and on gram-negative flora (is the most active – on streptococcal flora and colibacillus), and also on pathogenic fungi and yeast. Steadier flora is staphylococcus, however at prolonged use of drug in 80% of cases suppression of staphylococcal flora is noted. The pyocyanic stick is steady. Drug малотоксичен.

Pharmacokinetics. At contact with skin for 30% other part – in active iodine turns into iodides, and. It is partially soaked up. The absorbed part gets into fabrics and bodies, is selectively absorbed by a thyroid gland. It is allocated with kidneys (mainly), intestines, sweat glands, with milk in the period of a lactation.

Indications to use:

Inflammatory and infectious diseases of skin, graze, cuts, microtraumas, wounds; miositis, neuralgia, inflammatory infiltrates; disinfection of a surgery field (before - and postoperative processing of a surgery field, carrying out injections, punctures, catheterizations), edges of wounds, the surgeon's hands.

Route of administration and doses:

Outwardly, grease affected areas of skin. When processing a surgery field skin is twice wiped with a sterile gauze tampon, moistened in solution. The general time of processing – 4-6 minutes.

Features of use:

At compatible use with yellow mercury ointment formation of mercury of the iodide possessing the cauterizing action is possible.

Side effects:

Irritation of skin, at prolonged use on extensive wound surfaces – an iodism (rhinitis, urticaria, a Quincke's edema, hypersalivation, dacryagogue, acne rash).

Interaction with other medicines:

Pharmaceutical it is incompatible with essential oils, ammonia solutions, white sedimentary mercury (explosive mix is formed).

Alkaline or acid medium, presence of fat, pus, blood weaken antiseptic activity.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity.

Storage conditions:

To store in the place protected from light at a temperature not below 0 °C. In the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity - 3 years. Not to use after the term specified on packaging.

Solution for external use of spirit 5%. On 5 ml, 10 ml, 15 ml, 20 ml, 25 ml, 30 ml in bottles from glass melt like FV or in bottles from polyethyleneterephthalate.
