General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent - minoksidit 20 mg/ml;
Excipients: ethanol of 96%, propylene glycol, the water purified.

Description. Transparent, from faintly yellow till orange color solution.




Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. At topical administration of a minoksidil its stimulating influence on growth of hair at persons with an androgenetichesky alopecia (a poredeniye of hair, baldness) is noted. Emergence of signs of growth of hair is noted in 4 and more months of use of drug 2 times a day. The beginning and degree of manifestation of effect can fluctuate at different patients. After drug phase-out Kosilon growth of new hair stops, within 3-4 months recovery of initial outward is possible. The exact mechanism of effect of drug Kosilon at treatment of an androgenetichesky alopecia is not known.

In controlled clinical trials after topical administration of drug Kosilon both at patients with normal, and at patients with the increased arterial pressure the system side effects connected with absorption of a minoksidil were not noted.

Pharmacokinetics. At external use minoksidit badly it is soaked up through the normal not injured skin: on average 1,4% (0,3-4,5%) of the general put dose come to a system blood stream. At external use the level of a minoksidil in blood serum is defined by the speed of its absorption by integuments.

After phase-out of drug about 95% of the minoksidil which got to a system blood stream it is removed within 4 days. Practically does not contact proteins of plasma. Minoksidil and his metabolites are removed by kidneys.


Indications to use:

For treatment of an androgenetichesky alopecia (recovery of indumentum) and stabilization of process of a hair loss at men and women.


Route of administration and doses:

Outwardly.
Kosilon in a dose of 1 ml is put 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening) on skin of a pilar part of the head, beginning from the center of the struck area, and around the struck area. This dose does not depend on the size of the struck area. The total daily dose should not exceed 2 ml. After putting drug Kosilon carefully wash up hands. You apply Kosilon only on skin of a pilar part of the head, previously well having dried up hair. Therapy is carried out for not less than 4 months. If in 4 months the satisfactory result is not achieved, it is necessary to consult with the dermatologist who can make the decision on therapy extension.


Features of use:

Except genetic predisposition the hair loss can be caused also by other reasons. Kosilon does not prevent the hair loss caused by some medicines, disturbance of food (a lack of iron or vitamin A of an organism), and also a hair loss as a result of laying in hard hairstyles (a tail, a bunch).

Before drug use Kosilon it is necessary to consult with the doctor if:
• the hair loss began suddenly;
• baldness has focal character;
• there is cardiovascular pathology.

It is necessary to stop drug use Kosilon and it is necessary to consult with the doctor at:
• emergence of retrosternal pains;
• heartbeat increase;
• dizziness or unconscious state;
• lowering of arterial pressure;
• to a sudden increase in the weight and hypostases of hands and/or legs;
• reddening or irritation in the place of rubbing in.

More frequent use of drug or use of high doses does not lead to strengthening of effect, however, can promote emergence of such side effects as dermatitis of a pilar part of the head, a small tortoiseshell.

Kosilon contains alcohol which causes irritation of a mucous membrane of eyes. At accidental contact of drug with sensitive sites (eyes, the injured skin, mucous membranes) it is necessary to wash out an affected area a large amount of cold water from under the crane.

At some patients after use of drug discoloration and structures of hair was observed. It is necessary to avoid drug washing off. If it is possible, you apply Kosilon on the dry head after bathing or wait about 4 hours after putting drug before bathing. Do not allow the head to become wet earlier, than in 4 hours after putting drug.

Hairspray and other conditioning agents behind hair can be used during drug use Kosilon. Before drawing means for care of hair it is necessary to put at first Kosilon and to wait until the processed site of skin completely dries up. There are no data that hair-dyeing, performance of a chemical wave or use of softeners for hair can reduce efficiency of drug somehow. However it is necessary for prevention of possible irritation of a pilar part of the head it will be convinced that Kosilon was washed completely away from hair and a pilar Part of head skin before use of these chemical means.

To use Kosilon only in compliance with instructions. Not to apply Kosilon on other body parts.


Side effects:

When using drug the following undesirable reactions are possible: a xeroderma, an erythema, a severe itch, irritation of skin with the advent of eels, allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, local photosensitivity, a diffusion hypertrichosis.

Use of a minoksidil can cause strengthening a hair loss upon transition from a resting phase (телоген) to a growth phase of hair (анаген), at the same time old hair drop out, and on their place new grow. This temporary phenomenon is usually observed 2-6 weeks later after an initiation of treatment and gradually stops within two next weeks (emergence of the first signs of action of a minoksidil).

There are messages on exceptional cases of arterial hypotension and a hypertrichosis (undesirable growth of hair on a body, including growth of hair in the person for women) after the beginning of use of a minoksidil.

From cardiovascular system: cases of change of arterial pressure and a cordial rhythm are described.


Interaction with other medicines:

Simultaneous drawing on skin of a minoksidil and drugs for external use, such as третиноин and antralin/ditranol which cause changes of protective functions of skin can lead to increase in absorption of a minoksidil.


Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to a minoksidil or to other components of drug, inflammatory and allergic diseases of head skin, age is younger than 18 years, pregnancy and the period of a lactation.


Overdose:

Accidental intake can be followed by the system effects connected with vasodilating action of a minoksidil. Signs of overdose is tachycardia, dizziness or an unconscious state. In these cases it is necessary to see a doctor urgently.


Storage conditions:

At the room temperature, it is not above 25 °C. Not to freeze. In the place, unavailable to children! Period of validity: 3 years. Not to use after a period of validity.
