Naphthyzinum

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: Naphthyzinum of 0,5 mg/ml and 1,0 mg/ml.

Excipients: the boric acid, water purified.

Description: the transparent, colourless or slightly painted liquid.

Pharmacological properties:

Naphazoline belongs to alpha 2 - адреномиметикам, renders the bystry, expressed and long vasoconstrictive action concerning vessels of mucous membranes (reduces puffiness, a hyperemia, exudation). Facilitates nasal breath at rhinitises. In 5-7 days there is a tolerance.

Indications to use:

Acute rhinitis, sinusitis, laryngitis.

For simplification of carrying out a rinoskopiya, for lengthening of effect of local anesthetics (it is applied to surface anesthesia).

Route of administration and doses:

The adult appoint on 1-3 drops of Naphthyzinum 0,5 mg/ml – 1,0 mg/ml 3-4 times a day, to children 1 years - on 1-2 drops of Naphthyzinum of 0,5 mg/ml 1-3 times a day are more senior. For lengthening of effect of the local anesthetics applied to surface anesthesia add on 2-4 drops of Naphthyzinum 0,1 % (1,0 mg/ml) to 1 ml of solution of the anesthetizing substance.

Features of use:

Can cause resorptive action. At prolonged use expressiveness of vasoconstrictive action gradually decreases (the tachyphylaxis phenomenon) in this connection, it is recommended to take in 5-7 days of use a break for several days.

Side effects:

Nausea, tachycardia, headache, increase in arterial pressure, reactive hyperemia, swelling of a mucous membrane of a nasal cavity. Irritation at use more than 1 week – a rhinedema.

Interaction with other medicines:

It is not necessary to apply along with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days after the end of their use. Slows down absorption of mestnoanesteziruyushchy substances.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components; an arterial hypertension, the expressed atherosclerosis, a hyperthyroidism, children's age till 1 year, chronic rhinitis, a diabetes mellitus; tachycardia; a concomitant use of MAO inhibitors and the period up to 14 days after the end of their use.

Overdose:

Symptoms: decrease in body temperature, bradycardia, increase in arterial pressure.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Naphthyzinum of 0,5 mg/ml and 1,0 mg/ml, drops nasal on 10 ml in bottles of glass colourless or orange glass; on 10 ml or 15 ml in polyethylene or polypropylene bottles droppers. 1 bottle with a cover dropper (or without it) or 1 bottle dropper – in a pack from a cardboard. 50 bottles with application instructions and number of the packer – in a box from a cardboard.
