Iodine, solution of 5% spirit

General characteristics. Structure:

The aqueous-alcoholic solution containing 5 g of iodine, 2 g of potassium of iodide equal of an amount of water and alcohol of ethyl 95% to 100 ml.

Pharmacological properties:

Iodine solution spirit contains elementary iodine which at contact with skin or mucous membranes turns into iodide, partially disappears from a surface at the expense of a volatility and availability of alcohol. Has bystry bactericidal effect (within 15-60 seconds), and also irritating, distracting, resorptional infiltrates action.

Indications to use:

Iodine solution spirit is applied as antiseptic, distracting, a revellent at inflammatory and other diseases of skin and mucous membranes. At miozita, neuralgia the distracting effect of drug is shown.

Iodine solution spirit is applied outwardly.

Side effects:

Drug at long reception can cause the iodism phenomena (urticaria, cold, a Quincke's edema, acne rash, slezo-and hypersalivation).

Interaction with other medicines:

Iodine solution spirit is incompatible with the disinfectants containing mercury, oxidizers, alkalis.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to iodine.
