Boric acid

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: boric acid;

100 ml of solution contain boric acid 3 g;

excipients: ethanol of 96%, the water purified.

Pharmacological properties:

Drug has antiseptic action. Coagulates proteins (including enzymes) a microbic cell, permeability of a cellular cover breaks thanks to what growth and development of bacteria is late.

At external use drug is absorbed through the injured skin, a wound surface; at the accidental use inside – through a mucous membrane of digestive tract. Boric acid can collect in body tissues. It is brought out of an organism slowly.

Indications to use:

Pyoderma, the becoming wet eczema, an intertrigo, acute and chronic average otitis.

Route of administration and doses:

Apply outwardly. At a pyoderma, an intertrigo, eczema affected areas of skin process by means of the napkin which is previously moistened with drug, 2-3 times a day.

At otitis enter the turundas moistened with solution into outside acoustical pass or dig in 3-5 drops 2-3 times a day.

Features of use:

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast.

Drug is contraindicated to women during pregnancy and feeding by a breast.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport or work with other mechanisms. 

Does not influence.

Children. To children drug is not used.

Side effects:

Use of drug can cause allergic reactions (erubescence, an itch, urticaria, rash, hypostasis). In isolated cases – development of anaphylactic reaction, including shock; epithelium desquamation.

At prolonged use and patients with a renal failure can have a nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a headache, confusion of consciousness, an oliguria, spasms.

In case of any undesirable phenomena it is necessary to see a doctor!

Interaction with other medicines:

Interaction meanwhile is unknown.

At simultaneous use of any other medicines it is necessary to tell the doctor.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to boric acid; 
renal failures;
chronic mesotympanitis with the normal or a little changed mucous membrane;
traumatic perforation of a tympanic membrane; 
the periods of pregnancy and feeding by a breast, including for processing of mammary glands;
to children (including newborn).

Appropriate security measures at use.

Not to use drug on big sites of skin, not to apply to washing of cavities. Not to allow hit of drug in eyes.

It is not necessary to violate rules of use of medicine, it can do much harm to health!

Overdose:

In case of the accidental use of drug inside to carry out a probe gastric lavage, to appoint inside salt purgatives, enterosorbents (absorbent carbon), symptomatic therapy.

Symptoms of acute poisoning: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, disturbance of blood circulation and oppression of TsNS, decrease in body temperature, shock, coma, erythematic rash. In case of a serious poisoning take measures concerning maintenance of the vital functions of an organism, carry out a hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, replaceable hemotransfusion. At prolonged use of drug on sites of skin, big on the area, there can be symptoms of chronic intoxication: hypostasis of fabrics, exhaustion, stomatitis, eczema, disturbance of a menstrual cycle at women, anemia, spasms, an alopecia. In these cases drug is cancelled, carry out a symptomatic treatment.

Storage conditions:

Period of validity. 3 years. Drug cannot be used after the termination of the period of validity specified on packaging. To store at a temperature not above 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children.
