Hydrocortisone

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 10 mg of Hydrocortisoni acetas in 1 g of ointment.

Excipients: macrogoal cetostearyl ether, cetostearyl alcohol, methylparahydroxybenzoate, пропилпарагидроксибензоат, citric acid monohydrate, paraffin soft, white.

The glucocorticoid means for topical administration possessing antiinflammatory, antiallergic and anti-exudative action.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Suppresses functions of leukocytes and fabric macrophages. Limits migration of leukocytes to the area of an inflammation. Breaks ability of macrophages to phagocytosis, and also to education interleykina-1. Promotes stabilization of lizosomalny membranes, reducing thereby concentration of proteolytic effects in the field of an inflammation. Reduces the permeability of capillaries caused by release of a histamine. Suppresses activity of fibroblasts and formation of collagen.

Inhibits activity of a phospholipase of A2 that leads to suppression of synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Suppresses cyclooxygenase release (mainly TsOG-2) that also promotes reduction of production of prostaglandins.

Reduces number of the circulating lymphocytes (T - and In - cells), monocytes, eosinophils and basophiles owing to their moving to an adenoid tissue; suppresses antibody formation.

Therapeutic activity of a hydrocortisone at external use is caused antiinflammatory, antiallergic and anti-exudative (thanks to vasopressor effect) by action.

Indications to use:

Inflammatory and allergic diseases of skin of not microbic etiology, for example allergic and contact dermatitis, eczema, neurodermatitis, toksikodermiya (as a part of complex therapy).

Route of administration and doses:

A small amount of ointment is applied with the massing movements (for the best penetration) on the site of damage of skin by 1-3 times a day. At emergence of positive dynamics apply from 1 to 3 weekly. In case of the resistant course of a disease, for example, at localization of dense psoriasis plaques in elbows, knees, ointment needs to be applied under occlusive bandages.

Features of use:

To apply medicine during pregnancy, to a lactation and newborn children only in case of purpose of ointment by the attending physician.

Side effects:

At topical administration of a hydrocortisone (especially patients with hypersensitivity) can have a hyperemia, puffiness, an itch. Long use in high doses, especially at application under occlusive bandages, strengthens a resorption and increases risk of development of system effects of a hydrocortisone.

Contraindications:

Contraindications are bacterial, fungal, viral infections of skin in places of alleged application, a tuberculosis cutis, skin displays of syphilis, a skin new growth.

Storage conditions:

To store at a temperature from +8 °C to +15 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. Period of validity 2 years.
