Propolis

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: spirit extraction of propolis 1:10.

Excipients: ethanol not less than 75%.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Propolis (bee glue) is waste product of bees and represents mix of wax, pitches, essential oils and some other the natural compounds having biological activity (the flavones, flavanols derivative of cinnamon acid, etc.). Has antiinflammatory effect, strengthens regeneration of the damaged fabrics.

Indications to use:

- inflammatory processes of a mucous membrane of an oral cavity, gums (stomatitis, ulitis, periodontal disease), drinks (pharyngitis), almonds (tonsillitis), fish soup (otitis) and adnexal bosoms of a nose (antritis);
- microtraumas and other superficial damages of an integument and mucous membrane.

Route of administration and doses:

In the presence of wound surfaces on a mucous membrane in an oral cavity apply rinsings (15 ml of tincture to Ug of a glass of warm water) 4-5 times a day within 3-4 days; at pharyngitis or tonsillitis with tincture of propolis 2-3 times a day grease mucous membranes of a throat and almonds or carry out irrigation by aqueous solution of medicine (dissolve tincture with warm water in the ratio 1:20).

At outside purulent otitis later, clarifications of acoustical pass to an ear enter the tampon impregnated with propolis tincture for 1-2 minutes 2-3 times a day or dig in 1-2 drops 3-4 times a day.

Side effects:

Development of allergic reactions and short-term burning sensation in a site of application is possible.

Contraindications:

Propolis tincture is contraindicated at the known allergy to beekeeping products, aspirin, at pollinoses, acute eczema, asthma, and also at bleeding from affected areas of skin or mucous membrane. Children's age up to 18 years.

Overdose:

At external use of tincture of propolis, cases of overdose are not described.

Storage conditions:

To store in the place protected from light at a temperature not above +25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. Period of validity 2 years.
