Leucine

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 100 mg of a L-leucine, 391,5 mg of sugar milk.

Excipients (methyl cellulose, calcium stearate or stearic acid, silicon dioxide colloid).

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. The leucine has an immunopromoting effect and anabolic action. Activates cellular and humoral immunity; increases function of phagocytes; activates processes of biosynthesis of amino acids, their predecessors and metabolites; weakens disbolism arising at a stress; is initial substance for synthesis of protein and endogenous bioregulators.

Indications to use:

Immunostimulator and the proofreader of an amino-acid imbalance at oncological patients at various methods of specific treatment, in preoperative medicamentous preparation, when carrying out polychemotherapy, for elimination of cytostatic action of himiopreparat; an immunodeficiency at radio - and chemotherapy (prevention and correction).

Preoperative and postoperative prevention of infectious complications, basic therapy of patients with immunodeficiencies; the prevention of an immunodefitsiti at prolonged treatment by antibiotics, frequent catarrhal diseases.

Route of administration and doses:

About 100 mg a day are appointed inside. Course duration not less than 1 week and no more than 8 weeks. Repeated courses if necessary can be conducted in 2-3 weeks.

Preoperative preparation – 200 mg 3 times a day within 1 week before operation, in the postoperative period – on 100-200 mg 3 times a day up to 2-4 weeks.

At radio - and chemotherapy – courses for 2-4 weeks in doses of 100-200 mg on reception 2-3 times a day.

To children: aged from 1 year up to 6 years – on 50-100 mg; 6-12 years – on 100-200 mg 2-3 times a day.

For prevention of an immunodeficiency it is recommended to accept within 5-10 days.
