Balneology (Latin balneum – bathing, a bathtub + Greek logos – the doctrine) – the section of balneology investigating an origin, structure, physical and chemical properties and impact on the organism of therapeutic muds and mineral waters at various diseases which is engaged in development of indications and contraindications to their treatment-and-prophylactic use.
