Bifidobacteria (Bifidobacterium, Ber – determinant of bacteria of Bergey's manual of determinative bacteriology; lat. bifidus – split, doubled + by Greek bakterion – a stick) – the genus of bacteria from the Actinomycetaceae family including not forming a dispute, often dichotomizing branching, anaerobic polymorphic gram-positive motionless sticks; for the person of a nepatogenna, contain in normal intestinal microflora and treat antagonists of a row pathogenic, including putrefactive, bacteria.
