Suggestion

Suggestion (suggestio; synonym: suggestion) in psychotherapy – process of purposeful mental influence which is perceived by the subject without critical evaluation, with decrease in consciousness, passively.

Types of suggestion:

  • Hypnotic (hypnotica) – is directed to the person or group of the people staying in a condition of hypnosis; it is used in collective and individual psychotherapy;
  • Visual (visualis) – at which images of the phenomena, objects and persons use;
  • Indirect (obliqua) – carried out by means of the phenomena or objects to which inspiring specific significance was attached;
  • Posthypnotic (posthypnotica) – the hypnotic suggestion making the impact on the patient (health, the relations, installations, behavior and so forth) after its exit from a condition of hypnosis;
  • Direct (recta) – made by means of the speech inspiring, turned directly to the patient;
  • Verbal (verbalis; synonym: suggestion verbal) – carried out by means of speech influence.
