Hydrogen (Hydrogenium, N; from Ancient Greek ὕδωρ – water +  – I give rise) – chemical element VII of group of periodic system of D. I. Mendeleyev with atomic mass (is powerful) – 1,00797, atomic number – 1; a nonmetallic, gaseous element without taste, a smell and color; valency is equal in connections with metals-1, with nonmetals – +1; seven isotopes of hydrogen are known; heavy isotopes of this element are applied to studying of physiological and biochemical mechanisms.
