Meverin

General characteristics. Structure:

1 capsule contains a mebeverin of a hydrochloride, pellets which contain substance, in terms of мебеверин a hydrochloride of 0,2 g (200 mg);
the excipients which are a part of pellets: sucrose, starch corn, povidone, etiltselyulloz, talc, shellac.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Меверин® – a myotropic spasmolysant with selective effect on unstriated muscles of digestive tract. Eliminates a spasm, without influencing a normal peristaltics of intestines. It is applied to treatment of the patients with functional disturbances of a digestive tract who are followed by pain of spastic character and also at secondary spasms owing to organic diseases of the digestive system. In therapeutic doses drug blocks sodium
channels of membranes of smooth muscle cells, entry of ions of sodium into a cell and a spasm of unstriated muscles of internals warns. Unlike cholinolytic means, Meverin® does not affect M-holinoretseptory and does not cause characteristic of antispasmodics with M-holinoblokiruyushchim action of side effects (feeling of dryness in a mouth, a vision disorder, an urination delay) that allows to apply it to patients with a prostatauxe or glaucoma. Use of Meverina® is not followed by development of reflex hypotonia
intestines.

Pharmacokinetics. At intake is exposed to presistemny hydrolysis and is not defined in a blood plasma. It is metabolized in a liver to the veratric acid and mebeverinovy alcohol. It is removed preferential by kidneys in the form of the corresponding carboxyl and dimethylcarboxyl acids, in small amounts – with bile. The Meverina® capsules have property of long release. After reusable reception considerable cumulation of drug is not observed.

Indications to use:

Symptomatic treatment of pain, elimination of spasms, intestinal frustration and a sensation of discomfort in intestines at a syndrome of "the angry large intestine"; treatment of the gastrointestinal spasms of secondary genesis caused by diseases of a liver, pancreas, intestines and bilious channels.

Route of administration and doses:

The adult appoint Meverin® on 1 capsule 2 times a day in 20 min. prior to food (in the morning and in the evening). The capsule is swallowed, without chewing, and wash down with water. Duration of treatment is defined by the doctor individually.

Features of use:

As drug does not cause usual anticholinergic side effects, it can be applied by patients with a prostatauxe and glaucoma. Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast. At purpose of drug during pregnancy it is necessary to correlate advantage for mother to potential risk for a fruit. At appointment in therapeutic doses of Meverin® it is not allocated in breast milk.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions – a small tortoiseshell, a Quincke's edema, a face edema, skin rashes are in rare instances possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Are not described.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components. Меверин® in capsules it is not intended for treatment of children.

Overdose:

In certain cases at overdose increase in excitability of the central nervous system is possible.
The specific antidote is not known. It is recommended at overdose a gastric lavage and a symptomatic treatment.

Storage conditions:

To store in the dry, protected from light place, at a temperature from 15 ºС to 25 ºС. A period of validity – 2 years. To store in the place, unavailable to children.
