Valerian

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 200 mg of powder of tonkoizmelchenny rhizomes with valerian roots.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. An effective agent of drug is the complex of biologically active agents — essential oil, valepotriat, glycosides, alkaloids, pitches, organic acids, polysaccharides, etc. Valerianic acid and valepotriata possess spasmolytic action. The complex of biologically active agents of a valerian slows down a cordial rhythm and expands coronary vessels.

Drug has multilateral effect on an organism, oppresses the central nervous system, lowers her excitability, facilitates approach of a natural dream. Sedation of drug is shown rather steadily. Tablets of the Valerian have cholagogue effect, increase secretory activity of digestive tract.

Medical effect of drug is shown at systematic, prolonged course use.

Indications to use:

Drug is used as the calming (sedative) means at conditions of excitement; the frustration of a dream connected with overexcitation; migraines; easy functional frustration of cardiovascular system and digestive tract.

Route of administration and doses:

Drug is accepted inside on 1 tablet to food by 2 — 3 times a day, washing down 100 ml of water. Duration of a course of treatment is defined by the doctor individually.

Features of use:

During treatment by drug decline in the ability to driving of the car and control of various mechanisms is possible.

Side effects:

At use of drug in high doses slackness, drowsiness, depression, weakness, decrease in working capacity are possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Tablets of a valerian strengthen effect of hypnotic drugs, anxiolytic, analgeziruyushchy, sedatives. Drug can be combined with cardiotonic and antihypertensives. Cases of negative medicinal interaction at purpose of tablets of a valerian against the background of therapy are noted by other medicines included in the standard schemes of treatment of diseases of cardiovascular system and digestive tract.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any of drug components. Children's age till 1 year. With ostorozhnostyyu:beremenny and the lactation period.

Overdose:

Symptoms: the overdose is followed by strengthening of side effects of drug, discomfort from digestive tract, depression, drowsiness or excitement, nausea, vomiting.

Treatment: induction of vomiting, a gastric lavage (no later than in 2 hours after administration of drug). Symptomatic therapy.
