Glycyrrhiza root syrup

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 4 g of extract of a root of a glycyrrhiza of dense.

Excipients: sugar syrup, alcohol of 96%.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Drug has expectorant effect which is caused, first of all, by availability of glycyrrhizin which strengthens secretory function of mucous membranes of upper respiratory tracts.

Indications to use:

Apply at adults and children as an expectorant at diseases of the upper respiratory tracts which are followed by cough, mainly in the presence of badly separated dense and viscous secret (especially at children and elderly people).

Route of administration and doses:

Drug is appointed inside the adult on 1 teaspoon, previously having parted in 1/2 glasses of water 3 times a day.

To children up to 2 years –1-2 drops (previously having parted in 1 teaspoon of water) 3 times a day.

To children from 2 to 6 years of 2-10 drops (previously having parted in 1 teaspoon of water) 3 times a day.

To children from 6 to 12 years – 50 drops (previously having parted in ¼ glasses of water) 3 times a day.

To children 12 years – ½ teaspoons (previously having parted in ¼ glasses of water) 3 times a day are more senior.

Course of treatment of 7-10 days. Carrying out a repeated course of treatment perhaps after consultation with the doctor.

In the presence of badly separated phlegm and for simplification of expectoration plentiful warm drink is recommended.

Features of use:

Syrup of a root of a glycyrrhiza should be applied with care a sick diabetes mellitus (because of the high content of sugar in drug). To use drug with care at children because of presence at its composition of alcohol.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible, the dispepsichesky phenomena (diarrhea) in some cases can be observed. At prolonged use of drug with exceeding of the specified dosages the hypopotassemia, increase in arterial pressure, emergence of peripheral hypostases are possible.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components, pregnancy, the breastfeeding period, bronchial asthma, gastritis, a peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum in the period of an aggravation.

Storage conditions:

To store in cool, protected from light and the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity - 2 years. Not to apply after the period of validity specified on packaging.
