General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredients: 675 mkg of cytochrome C, 2 mg of adenosine, 20 mg of niacinamide.

Excipients: a benzalkoniya chloride, succinate sodium hexahydrate, sorbitol, dihydrophosphate sodium a dihydrate, hydrophosphate sodium a dihydrate, water for and.

The combined drug improving power metabolism of a crystalline lens.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Cytochrome C plays an important role in biochemical oxidation-reduction processes in fabrics of an eyeglobe and is antioxidant.

Adenosine - the predecessor of ATP, takes part in metabolic processes of a crystalline lens.

Niacinamide stimulates synthesis niacinamide-dinucleotide, a cofactor of dehydrogenases.

Pharmacokinetics. Absorption and distribution. At topical administration cytochrome C is not soaked up in a system blood stream.

Adenosine well gets through a cornea.

Metabolism and removal. Cytochrome C is completely metabolized in an organism in the same ways, as amino acids, and gems is split to bilirubin which is removed with bile.

Adenosine is metabolized practical in all fabrics with formation of inosine, xanthine and urate which are removed with urine. The ribose which is a part of a molecule of adenosine is metabolized to glitseraldegid-3-phosphate, and then - to pyruvate, and finally split in a tricarbonic acid cycle. Adenosine T1/2 makes less than 1 min. of plasma.

Niacinamide is partially metabolized to niacin. Both connections are methylated with formation of N-metilnikotinamida which is split further in a liver. Not changed niacinamide and metabolites are removed with urine.

Indications to use:

- cataract of various genesis.

Route of administration and doses:

Appoint 1-2 drops in a conjunctival sac of 3 times/days.

At the first use of a bottle it is necessary to turn a bottle cover with simultaneous pressing down and then to open a bottle.

Features of use:

Use at pregnancy and feeding by a breast. There is no sufficient experience of use of the drug Oftan® by Katakhr at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation (breastfeeding).

Drug Oftan® use by Katakhr at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation on doctor's orders and cases when the expected advantage of therapy for mother exceeds potential risk for a fruit or the baby is possible.

Use for children. It is contraindicated at children's and teenage age up to 18 years (due to the lack of data on efficiency and safety of use of drug for children and teenagers).

During treatment by the drug Oftan® by Katakhr it is not necessary to carry soft contact lenses since preservative can be laid in them and make an adverse effect on eye tissues. Before use of Oftan® of Katakhrom contact lenses should be removed and established them in 15 min. after drug instillation again.

Influence on ability to driving of motor transport and to control of mechanisms. Patients who after an instillation of drug have a short-term irritation of eyes have to avoid driving of motor transport, work with the equipment, machines or any other equipment demanding good visual acuity right after use of eye drops.

Side effects:

From an organ of sight: short-term burning sensation and tinglings of eyes, allergic conjunctivitis, contact dermatitis.

System reactions: extremely seldom - short-term nausea, arterial hypotension, dizziness, an asthma; feeling of heat and a pulsation in temples, faints (due to vasodilating effect of niacin).

Interaction with other medicines:

Clinically significant interaction ^{of the drug Oftan®} by Katakhr with other medicines is not revealed.

Contraindications:

— children's and teenage age up to 18 years (due to the lack of data on efficiency and safety of use of drug for children and teenagers);

— hypersensitivity to drug components.

Overdose:

Data on ^{drug Oftan®} overdose by Katakhr are not available.

Storage conditions:

List B. Drug should be stored in the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature from 8 °C to 15 °C. A period of validity - 3 years. After opening of a bottle dropper eye drops should be used within 1 month.
