General characteristics. Structure:

Etilbromizovalerianat (ethyl ether alpha бромизовалериановой acids) - 20,00 g phenobarbital - 18,26 g excipients: sodium hydroxide – 3,15 g, a peppermint oil – 1,42 g, ethanol (the alcohol rectified) – 580 ml, the water purified – 420 ml.

Pharmacological properties:

The combined drug which effect is caused by properties of the substances which are its part. Phenobarbital possesses sedative and soft sleeping pill effects. Promotes decrease in excitement of the central nervous system and facilitates approach of a natural dream. Ethyl ether alpha бромизовалериановой acids possesses sedative and spasmolytic action. Oil of a peppermint has reflex vasodilating and spasmolytic activity.

Indications to use:

Corvalol is appointed as calming and a vasodilator at functional frustration of cardiovascular system, at the neurosis-like states which are followed by an acrimony, disturbance of backfilling, tachycardia, a condition of excitement with the expressed vegetative manifestations, and as an antispasmodic - at enterospasms.

Route of administration and doses:

Inside, before meal, adult till 15-30 drops, previously having dissolved in a small amount (30 – 50 ml) of water, 2 - 3 times a day. At tachycardia increase in a single dose drops is possible till 40-50. To children appoint till 3-15 drops in days depending on age and a clinical picture of a disease. Duration of use of drug is established by the doctor individually.

Features of use:

Drug contains 58 percents by volume of ethanol and phenobarbital therefore the patients accepting Corvalol are not recommended to be engaged in the activity connected with special attention and demanding speed of mental and motor reactions.

Side effects:

Corvalol, as a rule, is well transferred. In some cases, drowsiness and slight dizziness, allergic reactions, decline in the ability to concentration of attention can be observed in the afternoon. At prolonged use of high doses development of chronic poisoning with bromine which manifestations happen is possible: depressive mood, apathy, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, hemorrhagic diathesis, lack of coordination of movements. At prolonged use of drug formation of medicinal dependence is possible; accumulation of bromine in an organism and development of the phenomena of a bromism is possible.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components, the expressed renal failures and/or a liver. Purpose of drug at pregnancy is possible only according to strict indications. In need of purpose of drug during feeding it is necessary to resolve by a breast an issue of the breastfeeding termination.

Storage conditions:

In the dry, protected from light place, at a temperature from +10 °C to +25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children.
