Tirozur
Producer: Engelhard Arzneimittel GmbH&Co.KG Germany
Code of automatic telephone exchange: D06AX08
Release form: Soft dosage forms. Gel for external use.
General characteristics. Structure:
Active agent: tyrothricin of 1 mg/g.
Pharmacological properties:
Active ingredient of drug Tirozur — tyrothricin — is compound of various cyclic and linear polypeptides having antibacterial activity and represents endotoxin of anaerobic spore-forming Bacillus brevis. This connection contains up to 70–80% of tyrocidins (the main cyclic decapeptides) and to 20–30% of gramicidins (neutral linear pentadecapeptides).
Active generally concerning gram-positive bacteria of Staph. aureus MSSA, Staph. aureus MRSA, Staph. naemolyticus, Strep. pyogenes, Strep. viridans, Enterococcus faecalis, Diplococcus pneumoniae, Corynebact. spp., Neisseria meningitides, some strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, mushrooms and trichomonads, and also some gram-negative bacteria and some species of mushrooms, including Candida.
Tyrothricin has dozozavisimy bacteriostatic or bactericidal action concerning such microorganisms as Clostridia.
Allocation from bacterial cells of such substances as nitrogen and phosphates, provides efficiency of effect of tyrocidin. Like cationic detergents tyrocidin destroys an osmotic barrier of membranes of bacterial cells. Due to direct action on a cell wall of a bacterium effect of drug Tirozur is not limited to oppression of growth or cell fission, it also causes bactericidal effect of tyrocidin.
Besides, gramicidins form cationic channels in a cellular membrane of bacteria that leads to loss of potassium by them and as result, to change of intracellular concentration of cations and a cytolysis. Such component as gramicidin leads further to a rupture of processes of phosphorylation in a chain of cellular respiration.
In view of the special mechanism of effect of tyrothricin which is not noted at system antibiotics, cross stability does not develop.
Tirozur accelerates process of healing of wounds by means of clarification of a bottom of a wound, and also stimulation of processes of granulation and epithelization.
It is unknown in what degree tyrothricin can be soaked up systemically. High concentration are revealed in a corneous layer of skin (after drawing on an intact surface) and directly in a wound.
Indications to use:
The superficial wounds with insignificant release of exudate and existence of superinfection caused by pathogenic microorganisms, sensitive to tyrothricin, such as avulsive wounds, scratches, grazes.
Route of administration and doses:
Gel: to apply gel 2–3 times a day with a thin layer on affected areas of skin. At small wounds and inflammations of skin on open body parts to close them, as a rule, there is no need. At extensive damages or the becoming wet wounds the protective bandage which needs to be changed in 1–2 days is recommended.
Treatment duration Tirozur is established by drug individually, depending on the course of a disease. If improvement after week use of drug is noted, then it is necessary to reconsider treatment tactics.
Features of use:
It is necessary to be careful in case of use of gel on sites around eyes as it can cause a burning sensation. Gel Tirozur contains propylene glycol which can cause irritation of skin.
Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast. The influences of drug on the course of pregnancy given relatively are absent. Adequate researches of influence of tyrothricin on reproductive function at animals were not conducted. Extent of system absorption of tyrothricin after its use on the surface of skin is unknown therefore during pregnancy it should be applied with care.
Feeding period breast. It is unknown whether tyrothricin gets into breast milk therefore during feeding by a breast it should be applied with care, in small amounts and during short time. During feeding by a breast it is not necessary to use drug in a breast. It is necessary to avoid contact of the child with sites of skin on which powder or gel is applied.
During pregnancy or feeding by a breast it is necessary to use drug only after ratio assessment risk/advantage, in a small amount and during short time.
Ability to influence speed of response at control of vehicles or work with other mechanisms. Does not influence.
Children. In case of need drug can be used at children of any age.
Side effects:
Irritation of skin, allergic reactions, including an erythema, urticaria, contact dermatitis.
Interaction with other medicines:
Are unknown.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to drug components. It is contraindicated for intranasal use; there are messages that such route of administration can lead to disturbance of sense of smell.
Overdose:
About cases of overdose it was not reported.
