Ferlatum Foul No. 20

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent: 
gland a protein suktsinilat-800 mg (40 mg of Fe+3 are equivalent)
Excipients: sorbitol - 1400 mg, propylene glycol – 1000 mg, метилпарагидроксибензот sodium – 45 mg, пропилпарагидроксибензоат sodium – 15 mg, cherry fragrance (the fragrance of wild black cherry concentrated, vanillin, amyl acetate, small amounts of other ethers, benzaldehyde, a clove tree of buds oil, propylene glycol, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, water) – 60 mg, sodium saccharinate – 15 mg, the purified water – to 15 ml.
Each cover doser (cap container) contains: 
Active agent: 
calcium of a folinat pentahydrate – 0,235 mg (0,200 mg of calcium of a folinat or 0,185 mg of folinovy acid are equivalent);
Excipients: 
Mannitolum – 99,8 mg.

Description: 
In a bottle: transparent solution of brownish color with a pleasant characteristic cherry smell.
In a cover doser (cap container):
powder of color, white with a yellowish shade, inodorous.

Pharmacological properties:

Ferlatum Fol – iron preparation and calcium of a folinat, compensates for the deficiency of iron and folates of an organism. The main function of iron is transfer of oxygen to fabrics.
Iron is a part of hemoglobin, a myoglobin, ferriferous enzymes-tsitokhromov, transfers electrons and works as the catalyst of oxidation reactions, a hydroxylation and other metabolic processes. Ferlatum Fol contains an iron-protein сукцинилат, representing complex connection where atoms of trivalent iron (Fe3+) are surrounded with the semi-synthetic proteinaceous carrier preventing injury of a mucous membrane of a stomach.
The proteinaceous carrier is repeatedly dissolved in a duodenum, releasing iron in the place of its best absorption. From intestines trivalent iron comes to blood by active absorption that explains impossibility of overdose and poisoning.
Calcium фолинат is calcic salt of folinovy acid which compensates for the folate deficiency of an organism.

Indications to use:

- Treatment of the latent and clinically expressed deficit of iron (iron deficiency anemia) and folates;
- Preventive therapy of deficit of iron and folates during pregnancy, lactations, active growth; after long bleedings, against the background of defective and unbalanced food.

Route of administration and doses:

Ferlatum Fol accept inside to or after food. For preparation of solution for intake it is necessary to press with a force the cover doser perforator that powder poured out in the solution which is in a bottle. It is vigorous to shake up, remove a cover doser and to drink solution from a bottle.

Adults: 1-2 bottles a day in the quantity equivalent to 40-80 mg of Fe3 + and 0,235-0,470 mg of calcium of a folinat of pentahydrate or according to recommendations of the doctor, in 2 receptions.

Children (since the neonatality period): 1.5 ml/kg/days (in the quantity equivalent to 4 mg/kg/days of Fe3 + and 0,0235 mg/kg/days of calcium of a folinat of pentahydrate) in 2 receptions or according to recommendations of the doctor. 1 bottle (15 ml) contains: gland a protein suktsinilat-800 mg (40 mg of Fe+3 are equivalent) and 0,235 mg of calcium of a folinat of pentahydrate (0,185 mg of folinovy acid are equivalent).

Pregnant women:
For prevention of an iron deficiency anemia – on 1 bottle a day. For treatment of the latent or clinically expressed deficit of iron – on 1-2 bottles a day in 2 receptions. After achievement of normal indicators of serumal iron and hemoglobin treatment is continued within not less than 8-12 weeks, appointing a maintenance dose.

Features of use:

Ferlatum Fola should not exceed the continuous period of use 6 months, except for cases of chronic blood losses (menorrhagias, hemorrhoids, etc.) and pregnancies. Does not influence occupations potentially dangerous types of activity demanding the increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (including driving of motor transport). It is necessary to use carefully drug to the patients suffering from intolerance of milk protein at whom allergic reaction can be shown. Ferlatum Fol contains sorbite therefore the patients suffering from hereditary intolerance of fructose should not use drug.

Side effects:

Emergence of gastrointestinal frustration which disappear at a dose decline or drug withdrawal is in rare instances possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Interaction Ferlatum Fola with other medicines was not noted at their simultaneous use. Absorbability of iron can be increased at co-administration more than 200 mg of ascorbic acid and is reduced at use of antacids. Chloramphenicol causes the delayed response to therapy by iron. Lack of pharmacological interaction at the accompanying treatment by antagonists of H2 receptors is noted. Some antineoplastic and antileukemic drugs (aminopterine, a methotrexate and other pterinovy derivatives) behave as antagonists of folates.

Contraindications:

- Hypersensitivity to drug;
- Overload iron (hemochromatosis);
- Iron utilization disturbance (lead anemia, sideroakhrestichesky anemia);
- Not iron deficiency anemias (hemolitic anemia; the megaloblastny anemia caused by a lack of B12 vitamin);
- Chronic pancreatitis;
- Cirrhosis.

With care
It is necessary to be careful to patients with: 
peptic ulcer of a stomach and 12-perstny gut, disturbance of absorption at pathology of a small intestine (enterita, a syndrome of insufficiency of absorption, a resection of a small intestine, a stomach resection according to Billroth of II with inclusion of a duodenum).

Pregnancy and lactation: 
Drug use Ferlatum Fol is especially recommended for prevention and treatment of deficit of the iron and folates developing in time of pregnancy and feeding by a breast.

Overdose:

So far symptoms of intoxication and excess intake of drug Ferlatum Fol in an organism were not described.

Storage conditions:

Period of validity: 2 years. It is not necessary to use drug expired. At a temperature not over 25 ºС. To store in the place, unavailable to children!

Solution for intake. On 15 ml of solution in a polyethylene colourless opaque bottle and on 100 mg of powder in the sealed cover doser (container cap) of red color with control of the first opening. 10 or 20 bottles with the application instruction in a cardboard pack.
