Chest elixir

General characteristics. Structure:

The extract of a root of a glycyrrhiza of dense 20,7 g, anisic essential oil rectified 0,34 g, ammonia water concentrated 1,38 g, alcohol of ethyl 90 % 20,41 ml, the water purified to 100 ml.

Pharmacological properties:

The expectorant effect of a chest elixir is caused by action of the components entering it.

- extract of a root of a glycyrrhiza possesses some antiinflammatory and expectorant properties which are connected with contents in roots of the glycyrrhizin stimulating activity of the ciliate epithelium in a trachea and bronchial tubes and also strengthening secretory function of mucous membranes of upper respiratory tracts;
 - anisic oil possesses the expectorant action caused by the content in oil of p-propenyl anisole which promotes reflex initiation of breath, increase in activity of a ciliate epithelium of respiratory tracts and strengthening of secretion of mucous membranes of a throat, trachea, bronchial tubes;
- ammonia possesses irritant action which leads to initiation of the terminations of sensory nerves of upper respiratory tracts and reflex stimulation of the center of breath.

Indications to use:

As an expectorant at the infectious and inflammatory respiratory diseases which are followed by formation of the hardly separated phlegm.

Route of administration and doses:

The adult till 20-40 of drops several times a day, to children appoint so many drops how many years to the child to reception.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

At moderately severe diseases and a severe form drug is appointed in combination with antibiotics and other means.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Overdose:

Storage conditions:

At a temperature from 18 to 25 °C, the place, unavailable to children.
