General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: the ethanol mixture with water containing on the volume of 95% of ethanol.

Description: transparent colourless mobile liquid with a characteristic smell of alcohol.

Pharmacological properties:

Antimicrobic means, at topical administration has antiseptic action (denatures proteins of microorganisms). It is active concerning gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and viruses. Antiseptic activity increases with increase in concentration of ethanol. For disinfecting of skin use 70% the solution getting into deeper layers of epidermis is better, than 95%, possessing the tanning action on skin and mucous membranes. Is solvent for a number of HP, and also extragent for a number of the substances which are contained in medicinal vegetable raw materials.

Pharmacokinetics. At external use it is soaked up from the surface of skin and mucous membranes in a system blood stream. The isoenzyme of CYP2E1 which inductor it is participates in metabolism of drug.

Indications to use:

Treatment of initial stages of diseases: furuncle, felon, mastitis; processing of hands of the surgeon (Fyurbringer's ways, Alfreda), a surgery field (including at persons with hypersensitivity to other antiseptic agents, at children and at operations on areas with thin skin at adults – a neck, a face). Preservation of biological material, production of dosage forms for external use, tinctures, extracts.

Route of administration and doses:

Outwardly, in the form of lotions, compresses and rubdowns. For processing of a surgery field and preoperative disinfection of hands of the surgeon use 70% solution, for compresses and rubdowns (in order to avoid a burn) it is recommended to use 40% solution. 95% solution has to be divorced to necessary concentration and is used according to indications. The HP prepared on the basis of ethanol apply according to instructions on a medical use of these dosage forms.

Features of use:

Ethanol at external use is partially soaked up through skin and mucous membranes that it is necessary to consider at its use at children, pregnant women and in the period of a lactation.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions, skin burns, hyperemia and dermatalgia in the place of imposing of a compress. At external use it is partially soaked up through skin and mucous membranes and can have resorptive all-toxic effect (oppression of the central nervous system).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity. With care: Pregnancy, lactation period, children's age.

Storage conditions:

In well corked container. To store in the place, unavailable to children. Period of validity of 5 years. Not to use after expiry date.

Packaging:

Solution for external use and preparation of dosage forms of 95%. On 50, 100 ml in the bottles of orange glass corked by polyethylene traffic jams and the screwed covers. Each bottle with the application instruction is placed in a pack from a cardboard. On 20 bottles with the equal number of application instructions place in a box from a cardboard (for hospitals). On 10 l, 21,5 l, 31,5 l in polyethylene canisters (for production departments of drugstores).
