5-HOK
Application instruction:
5-HOK – the antimicrobic medicine having a broad spectrum of activity concerns to group of oxyquinolines. Drug is active concerning the majority of the microorganisms leading to inflammations of urinary tract (a mycoplasma, colibacillus, staphylococcus, Candida, an ureplazma, dermatophytes).
Form of release and composition of drug
Release tablets 5-HOK, coated. Each tablet contains active component – nitroxoline in number of 50 mg. In plastic bottles on 50 tablets.
Pharmacological action
According to the instruction 5-HOK is antibacterial agent with a broad spectrum of activity. Drug is well soaked up and easily removed by kidneys from an organism in almost invariable look. It promotes that in urine high concentration of antimicrobial component is formed. Use 5-HOK has effect on gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria (salmonellas, tubercular and diphtheritic bacteria, gonokokk, streptococci, colibacillus), trichomonads and fungi, including dermatophytes and Candida.
Indications to use 5-HOK
According to the instruction 5-HOK it is shown at various infections of urinary tract (uretrita, cystitis, epididymites, pyelonephritises) caused by the microorganisms sensitive to the operating drug component.
Also use 5-HOK is effective for prevention of various infections against the background of carrying out tool researches (catheterization, a tsistoskopiya) and after carrying out operative measures on bodies of an urinary system.
Route of administration 5-HOK and mode of dosing
To adult patients drug appoint in number of two tablets four times a day (total 400 mg) for 2-3 weeks. The maximum dosage of drug makes 16 tablets a day. Duration of therapy is determined by the attending physician individually.
To patients of school age drug is appointed on 1-2 tablets by four times a day, and to children the dosage is younger than five-year age makes 20 mg/kg, divided into three receptions a day.
Contraindications
According to 5-HOK you should not accept at hypersensitivity to nitroxoline, and also during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Besides, drug is contraindicated to patients with a heavy liver or renal failure and a cataract.
Side effects 5-HOK
According to 5-HOK it is preferential well transferred by patients. Such side effects as appetite loss, single vomiting, nausea, development of various allergic reactions can sometimes be observed.
To avoid development of gastrointestinal frustration, drug should be accepted directly in time or right after food. At some patients the headache, polyneuropathy, tachycardia, passing disturbances of sensitivity were observed.
Special instructions
During reception drug urine can become a red-yellow shade.
According to 5-HOK patients should appoint with care with the expressed renal failure. The drug dosage at the same time is recommended to be lowered twice. Besides, without carrying out additional inspection of a liver and kidneys it is not necessary to accept drug longer than one month.
