Nonconformism

Нонконформизм - неприятие норм, ценностей, целейUnderstand denial of the foundations and rules existing in any group, society or community and the offer of own vision of a problem or situation as nonconformism. In other words, the person chooses the way, but does not conform to the rules which to it are dictated by crowd.

Examples of nonconformism are in different spheres of life – policy, culture, art, science. In fact, nonconformists it is possible to call all people (eminent persons and scientists) who advanced time in the opening, and therefore were rejected by society (for example, Galileo Galilei, Giordano Bruno, etc.).

Popular philosophical theory of nonconformism

According to the popular philosophical theory of nonconformism, distinguish two of its look:

  • Just the nonconformism is disagreement and rejection of norms and values which dominate in society;
  • The forced nonconformism – pressure of group forces the individual to deviate from the purposes and expectations of community.

If to argue in general, then the protest and disagreement are inherent to people by definition, they repeatedly served as a push to development and progress in the history of mankind. Some evolutionists recognize that primitive "nonconformism" which was expressed in denial of the animal principles became a determinal factor of anthropogenesis. Derelicts, rebels and adventurers, according to researchers, were initiators of revolution of an ochelovecheniye.

In process of complication of the social organization the role of such "upstarts" becomes more and more ambiguous. Any system in process of the improvement aims to suppress and even to exclude a protest, and, the it is more difficult, the it has more opportunities for this purpose. However nonconformist elements are not in debt and even more often pass to extremist, exclusively destructive positions.

These interconnected processes clearly are traced in the modern world. Suppression is shown in a systematic pushing off "discordant" in the left political niche, and a protest – them is emphasized with anti-statist and even antisocial orientation.

Nonconformism ideology

Any ideology surely is the cornerstone of nonconformism. It can cover various levels – social, philosophical, valuable, and sometimes and religious. When manifestations of a protest try to explain only with the elementary social natural reactions, often lose sight of the last aspect.

For example, the oppressed masses which cannot live in such conditions any more rise against system and the oppressors. Really, it is an example of nonconformism, but to rise only because badly is, it is impossible by definition. That the revolt was effective, it is necessary to have ideology, a certain system of justifications. Only one unwillingness to live in such state is not enough. The outlook which stands behind disobedience and a protest is an ontologic factor of nonconformism.

Any forms of a social protest – from ancient revolts of slaves and palace revolutions before political revolutions of the present – are an example of nonconformism and get to its sphere.

Nonconformism in art

Independence of thinking and "the idea of not conciliation" are shown not only in a political system of society. The era of the 60-80th years of the 20th century is impregnated with nonconformism in art – a peculiar paradoxical reflection of a spiritual and public situation of those years in painting, literature, music, theater and cinema.

Основные постулаты философии нонконформизмаIn the Soviet Union informal creativity was defined as a formalism, and therefore was pursued. Artists gave preference to a form, but not to contents and during its creation were absolutely independent and free. At the same time courage was not only creative, but also human. Most likely, for this reason the nonconformism in art was so popular and interesting, a picture which was created on pain of death, introduces internally tension which is transferred to the viewer.

A unique variety of art manners and styles which distinguishes nonconformism appeared thanks to community of bright and strong identity, unique in the history of art.

Often nonconformists are called oppositionists as they not thoughtlessly conform to the rules, and try to fight with them. However they cannot be confused to the nihilists who are denying all authorities, moral standards and cultural values and not offering nothing in exchange. In any example of nonconformism the author offers own vision. Nonconformists do not deny accepted standards, and just express a bit different opinion about it.
