Атровент

Атровент – the synthetic drug used for the prevention of a bronchospasm at bronchial asthma.

Form of release and structure

Drug is produced in the form of colourless solution for inhalations (in glass bottles droppers on 20 ml, on 1 bottle of dark glass in a pack cardboard).

Contains in 1 ml of Atrovent:

• Active agent: an ipratropiya bromide anhydrous – 250 mkg;
• Excipients: dinatrium of an edetat a dihydrate, a benzalkoniya chloride, Acidum hydrochloricum, sodium chloride, the water purified.

Indications to use

• Bronchial asthma of average and easy severity;
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, including emphysema of lungs and chronic obstructive bronchitis.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated to apply inhalation means at hypersensitivity to its components.

Атровент at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation appoint only according to strict indications.

Drug should be used with care:

• Prostate hyperplasia;
• Obstruction of urinary tract;
• Closed-angle glaucoma;
• Children's age up to 6 years.

Route of administration and dosage

The mode of dosing of solution for inhalations of Atrovent is selected individually.

To children of 12 years and adult usually appoint 3-4 inhalations a day on 2 ml that corresponds to 40 drops, as much as possible – 8 ml.

The daily dose of solution for inhalations of Atrovent for children depends on age:

• Up to 6 years – till 10-20 drops 3-4 inhalations a day;
• From 6 to 12 years – on 20 drops to 4 times a day.

Atrovent's use in pediatrics is carried out only under medical control.

The necessary dose of solution for inhalations just before the procedure should be parted with normal saline solution up to the volume of 3-4 ml. It is impossible to reuse the solution which remained after the procedure. The aerosol is appointed to 4 times a day on two doses, but no more than 12 inhalations a day.

It is important to be careful at simultaneous use of Atrovent with tricyclic antidepressants, beta2-adrenomimetika, protivoparkinsonichesky means, xanthine derivatives, quinidine and other anticholinergic drugs.

Side effects

Атровент most often causes dryness in a mouth, a headache and disturbances of motility of digestive tract.

Besides, drug can become the reason of the following manifestations:

• Supraventricular tachycardia, increase in pulse rate, accommodation disturbance, ciliary arrhythmia, heartbeat, ischuria;
• The local irritation and cough, is more rare – a paradoxical bronchospasm;
• Mydriasis and increase in intraocular pressure (at hit of solution in eyes);
• Skin rash, laryngospasm, small tortoiseshell, itch, paraglossa and persons, Quincke's edema, anaphylactic reactions.

Special instructions

It is not recommended to appoint Atrovent for the emergency stopping of attacks of bronchial asthma as broncholitic action develops more slowly, than when using beta-adrenergic agonists.

At a mucoviscidosis the risk of development of braking of motility of a GIT increases.

Considerable exceeding of the recommended doses is contraindicated not only in case of treatment of an acute bronchospasm, but also at a maintenance therapy. In case of insufficient efficiency of inhalations or an aggravation of symptoms the attending physician has to change treatment planning.

Атровент it is allowed to apply in the combined inhalations along with such solutions to inhalations as Ambroxol, Bromhexine and Berotek.

Content in drug of antibacterial preservative a benzalkoniya of chloride and the stabilizer of dinatrium of an edetat increase risk of development of a bronchospasm because of narrowing of a gleam of bronchial tubes.

It is necessary to avoid hit of solution in eyes, especially to patients with predisposition to glaucoma.

The doctor appointing drug has to train the patient in rules of his use, and when using the nebulizer with a mask, help with selection of a mask of the suitable size.

Analogs

Direct analogs of Atrovent on active ingredient: Иправент an aerosol for inhalations dosed, Atrovent of N an aerosol for inhalations dosed, Ipratropium Steri-Neb solution for inhalations.

To store at a temperature up to 30 °C, in the place unavailable to children.
