Klaritromitsin

Klaritromitsin – the semi-synthetic antibacterial agent applied to treatment of the infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms, sensitive to drug.

Pharmacological action

Active ingredient of Klaritromitsin works bacteriostatically and bakteritsidno. Drug is active in the relation:

• Gram-negative bacteria – Haemophilus influenzae, Helicobacter pylori, Haemophilus ducreyi, Bordetella pertussis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Neisseria meningitidis, Borrelia burgdorferi;
• Gram-positive bacteria – Corynebacterium spp., Staphylococcus spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Streptococcus spp.;
• Anaerobic bacteria – Peptococcus spp., Bacteroides melaninogenicus Eubacterium spp., Propionibacterium spp., Clostridium perfringens;
• Intracellular microorganisms – Ureaplasma urealyticum, Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Legionella pneumophila, Mycoplasma pneumoniae.

Klaritromitsin according to the instruction is also active concerning Mycobacterium spp. (except Mycobacterium tuberculosis) and Toxoplasma gondii.

Klaritromitsin release in a look:

• Oval biconvex light yellow tablets, film coated, on 250 mg and 500 mg (Klaritromitsin 500). Excipients – полакрилин potassium, cellulose microcrystallic, starch prezhelatinizirovanny, starch corn, talc, silicon dioxide colloid anhydrous, magnesium stearate. On 14 pieces in packaging;
• Small light yellow granules for preparation of suspension of Klaritromitsin for intake in bottles from dark glass for preparation of 60 ml (1,5 mg) and 100 ml (2,5 mg) of ready suspension.

Indications to Klaritromitsin's use

According to the instruction Klaritromitsin apply at various infectious diseases sensitive to active ingredient:

• Tonzillofaringite;
• Average otitis;
• Acute sinusitis;
• Acute and chronic (in an aggravation phase) bronchitis,
• Bacterial and atypical pneumonia;
• Various infections of skin and soft tissues.

Klaritromitsin apply also to prevention of developing of mikobakterialny infections at patients with AIDS.

Contraindications

Klaritromitsin's use is contraindicated at:

• Heavy insufficiency of function of a liver and hepatitis (in the anamnesis);
• Porphyrias;
• Sprue of glucose (galactose), inborn intolerance of fructose or deficit of enzyme of invertase-isomaltase;
• Hypersensitivity to a klaritromitsin or other antibiotics macroleads.

Klaritromitsin according to the instruction do not apply in the first trimester of pregnancy, children's age up to 6 months, and also along with tsizapridy, terfenadiny, Pimozidum and astemizoly. Use in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy is perhaps strict according to indications. To children up to 12 years or with body weight to 33 kg it is contraindicated we will accept Klaritromitsin in the form of tablets.

Application instruction of Klaritromitsin

At Klaritromitsin's use tablets, without breaking, swallow entirely, washing down with water.

Usually to children 12 years are aged more senior and adult appoint each 12 hours 250 mg of Klaritromitsin.

For the treatment of acute sinusitis and other heavy infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae appoint each 12 hours on 1 tablet of Klaritromitsin 500. The course of treatment makes one-two weeks.

For the purpose of N.'s eradikation of pylori – twice a day on 250-500 mg for a week, usually in a combination with other medicines.

For treatment and prevention of the infection caused by Mycobacterium avium complex appoint each 12 hours on 1 tablet of Klaritromitsin 500. Treatment is usually long, more than half a year.

To children 12 years usually are younger appoint suspension which dose is expected – 15 mg 1 kg of body weight a day, divided into two receptions. After reception of suspension it is recommended to give a little liquid. The tiny granules which are contained in suspension should not be chewed as they bitter on taste.

Klaritromitsin enter orally by means of the syringe doser containing 5 ml of suspension that corresponds to 125 mg of a klaritromitsin.

The syringe needs to be washed out after each use. The average duration of a course of treatment – from one to two weeks.

For suspension preparation the bottle is stirred up, add 1/4 part from necessary 42 ml of water and shaken up before full dissolution of granules. Then add the water rest that the volume of suspension reached the line of a mark in a bottle, and once again stir up.

Side effects

According to reviews Klaritromitsin is had better, than erythromycin. At use there can be various side effects:

• Diarrhea, nausea, stomatitis, vomiting, abdominal pain, glossitis; much less often according to reviews Klaritromitsin causes pseudomembranous colitis, increase in activity of enzymes of a liver and cholestatic jaundice;
• Sensation of fear, dizziness, sleeplessness or dreadful dreams, confusion of consciousness;
• Small tortoiseshell, Stephens-Johnson's syndrome, anaphylactic reactions, temporary changes of flavoring feelings.

Treatment by antibiotics usually changes normal flora of intestines and, according to reviews about Klaritromitsin, development of the superinfection caused by resistant microorganisms is in some cases possible.

Klaritromitsin's analogs – Aziklar, Klerimed, Klarbakt, Lekoklar, Klarimisin, Klatsid and Klatsid CP, Fromilid, Fromilid Uno, Klamed, Klabel, Binoklar, Klabaks, Klarikar, Kleron, Klaritsid. These drugs have the same active ingredient and render the same therapeutic effect. Distinction in names is caused by various trademarks which produce these drugs.

Klatsid, Klaritromitsin's analog, is the original for this group of drugs.
