Dimetinden

Dimetinden – the synthetic antihistaminic drug having antiallergic and antipruritic effect.

Pharmacological action

Active ingredient – a dimetindena a maleate. Renders anti-allergenic, antipruritic, sedative and anticholinergic action.

Treats antihistaminic drugs I of generation. It is applied to a symptomatic treatment and stopping of acute allergic reactions. One of advantages of this drug is the possibility of its use for children of baby age.

Contraindications

Drug has the small list of contraindications. It cannot be applied at hypersensitivity to диметинден to a maleate or other derivatives of alkylamine. Also it is not appointed to children aged up to 1 month and at the first trimester of pregnancy.

With care drug is appointed at:

• Exacerbation of bronchial asthma;
• To closed-angle glaucoma;
• Benign hyperplasia of a prostate;
• Chronic pulmonary disease;

• To children aged up to one year.

Dimetinden – rather safe drug, however at pregnancy and during feeding by a breast in the form of tablets and drops it is necessary to apply drug only on strict medical indications.

Use Dimetinden of gel is contraindicated only in the first trimester of pregnancy, and further it can be applied with care and not to apply on extensive areas. During feeding with a breast gel is not applied on area of nipples.

Dimetinden appoint to children aged from 1 month till 1 year, but also according to strict indications. At this age, especially at inflammations, it is not necessary to apply gel on extensive sites of skin.

Application instruction of Dimetinden

Dimetinden apply in the form of tablets or drops:

• The adult daily dose makes 3-6 mg of drug. Usually the dose is divided into three receptions. In certain cases, at weakness or the increased drowsiness, the dose is recommended to be divided into morning inclusion in breakfast time – 2 mg, and 4 mg before going to bed;
• The children's daily dose makes 0,1 mg on 1 kg of body weight, divided into 3-4 receptions.

The drop can be added just before feeding to a small bottle with warm food or not divorced from a teaspoon in single doses:

• From 2 months to 1 year – on 10 drops;
• From 1 year to 3 years – till 10-15 drops;
• 3 years – are more senior till 15-25 than drops.
