Pharmacological action and Femoston's pharmacokinetics

Femoston represents the combined drug used for replacement hormonal therapy. Active agents – oestradiol and дидрогестерон. As auxiliary drugs are used: silicon dioxide colloid, gipromelloza, magnesium stearate, starch corn.

Oestradiol on the biological and chemical properties is identical to a natural human sex hormone. By means of oestradiol in an organism of the woman the shortage of estrogen arising because of a menopause at the same time is filled providing therapy of psychoemotional and vegetative symptoms of a climax: dizziness, "inflow", the increased sweating, a sleep disorder, involutional processes of skin, the increased nervous irritability. Oestradiol promotes maintenance of a tone and elasticity of urinogenital ways. Also oestradiol is prophylactic against osteoporosis and fractures, promotes preservation of a bone tissue.

Didrogesteron - the progestagenny drug providing approach of a phase of secretion in inside slime layer of a uterus, thus, reducing risk of a hyperplasia and development of carcinogenesis. Didrogesteron has no androgenic, oestrogenic, glucocorticosteroid or anabolic activity.

The combination in Femostona of oestradiol and a didrogesteron gives the low-dosed mode of replacement hormonal therapy.

Oestradiol after oral administration is easily absorbed. Drug is metabolized in a liver, forming estrone and sulfate of estrone. It is removed preferential with urine.

Didrogesteron is easily absorbed in digestive tract. It is completely metabolized. The main metabolite of a didrogesteron – 20-digidrodidrogesteron. Full removal of drug happens in 72 hours.

Application instruction of Femoston and dosage

Femoston accept on one tablet, once a day, regardless of meal.

Femoston 1/10 - in the first part of a 28-day cycle consisting of 14 days the pill of white color containing 1 mg of oestradiol is taken. In the second half of a cycle the pill of gray color containing 10 mg of a didrogesteron and 1 mg of oestradiol is taken.

Femoston 2/10 - in the first part of a 28-day cycle consisting of 14 days the pill of pink color containing 2 mg of oestradiol is taken. In the second half of a cycle the pill of yellow color containing 10 mg of a didrogesteron and 2 mg of oestradiol is taken.

Patients at whom menstrual cycles did not stop are recommended to begin Femoston's use in the first day of a cycle. Patients at whom from the moment of the last periods there passed more than one year can begin Femoston's reception at any time.

Indications to Femoston's use

As well as its analogs, Femoston is applied as replacement hormonal therapy of the frustration caused by the natural menopause or a menopause which resulted from surgical intervention. And also as prevention of post-menstrual osteoporosis.

Contraindications to Femoston's use

• the suspected or diagnosed oncology of a mammary gland;
• the suspected or diagnosed malignant estrogenzavisimy new growths;
• the assumed or established pregnancy;
• lactation period;
• vaginal bleedings;
• deep vein thrombosis;
• porphyria;
• liver diseases;
• intolerance of components of Femoston.

It is necessary to show care to the persons receiving replacement hormonal therapy in the presence of the following states: arterial hypertension, endometriosis, leiomyoma of a uterus, fibrinferment and risk of their development, diabetes mellitus, benign tumor of a liver, cholelithiasis, migraine, system blood lupus, renal failure, epilepsy, otosclerosis.

Special instructions

At emergence of signs deterioration in function of a liver, migrenipodobny attacks, the expressed rise in arterial pressure, pregnancy Femoston's reception has to be stopped. If development of thromboses is observed, during therapy by Femoston, the instruction recommends drug withdrawal.

According to data of the conducted researches, at long-term reception of analogs of Femoston from among drugs of replaceable hormonal therapy, for more than 10 years, insignificant increase in diagnosing of a breast cancer is observed.

As well as its analogs, Femoston is not contraceptive means, if necessary, it is recommended to combine its reception with non-hormonal contraceptives.

Overdose by Femoston

The comments received about overdose by Femoston show that among possible symptoms can be: nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness. For treatment of overdose by Femoston it is recommended to carry out by the instruction symptomatic therapy.

Medicinal interaction

At a concomitant use with drugs inductors of microsomal enzymes of a liver, as: rifampicin, Phenytoinum, рифабутин, carbamazepine and barbiturates Femoston's action can be weakened.

Natural grass drugs as a part of which there is a St. John's Wort can render the stimulating effect on exchange of estrogen.

Pregnancy and lactation

Femoston is not recommended by the instruction for use during pregnancy and a lactation.

Side effects of Femoston

From the alimentary system are possible: a meteorism, abdominal pains, nausea, it is very rare – vomiting.

From a reproductive system are possible: breakthrough bleedings, morbidity of mammary glands, pains in the field of a basin; seldom – a dysmenorrhea, erosion of a neck of uterus, secretion change, a predmenstrualnopodobny syndrome.

From the central nervous system: migraines, dizziness, depression, nervousness.

From cardiovascular system: seldom – a venous thromboembolism, it is extremely rare – a myocardial infarction.

Manifestations of dermatological and allergic reactions are possible: rash, itch, urticaria.

According to responses, Femoston can give side effects in a look: vaginal candidiasis, change of body weight, carcinoma of a mammary gland, peripheral hypostases, change of curvature of a cornea.

Conditions and periods of storage

Femoston has to be stored in the place unavailable to children, at a temperature which is not exceeding 30 °C. A period of storage – 3 years.
