Colon cancer

Description:

Cancer of a large intestine — a malignant tumor which grows from the mucous membrane covering walls of a large intestine. In most cases the tumor is located in sigmoid, blind or a rectum.
Intestines cancer most often meets at advanced age. And every year such patients become more and more, especially in the developed countries with the high standard of living.

Symptoms of the Colon cancer:

At early stages of a colon cancer usually the patient feels not worse, than usually. Only when the tumor reaches the big sizes, the whole bouquet of unpleasant symptoms can appear:

    * abdominal pains (long, stupid, aching);
    * locks;
    * swelling and abdominal murmur;
    * emergence of blood in Calais;
    * small appetite,
    * pallor;
    * weakness and weakness;
    * temperature increase;
    * loss of weight.

Developing of a colon cancer is promoted:

  1. character of food — dominance in a diet of meat, fat and farinaceous dishes, the insufficient maintenance of products of plant origin;

  3. diseases of a large intestine: colitis and polyps (the risk of development of cancer begins to increase in 7 years from the beginning of a disease and each next 10 years increases for 10%, reaching 30% in 25 years;
  4. genetic predisposition;
  5. advanced age.

Cancer therapy of a large intestine:

The main method of cancer therapy of a large intestine is surgical. In addition to operation radiation therapy and chemotherapeutic treatment is used.
The type of operation depends on an arrangement of a tumor and its sizes. If the tumor small and "is successfully located", it is possible to remove it completely and to keep normal functioning of intestines. At the big sizes of a tumor or at some features of its arrangement operation comes to an end with creation of artificial outlet opening of a gut of a kolostoma which is located on a stomach.
In some cases surgical treatment is carried out in two steps: at first delete a part of a gut and create kolosty, and in several months recover normal functioning of intestines and kolosty remove.
The forecast of a disease depends on the sizes of a tumor and timeliness of surgical treatment. Than sizes of a tumor, subjects the high probability of full treatment of a disease less.
