Artificial tear

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 3 mg of a gipromelloza, 1 mg of a dextran 60.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Drug for moistening of a cornea. The artificial tear contains a dextran 60 and a gipromelloza (gidroksipropilmetiltsellyuloza) which in combination with natural lacrimal liquid of an eye increase stability of the lacrimal film.

Drug fills shortage of the lacrimal liquid and improves moistening of a cornea. After a single instillation effect of drug remains within 90 min.

Indications to use:

- syndrome of a dry eye,

- simplification of a corneal syndrome (including discomfort, burning, feeling of a foreign body).

Route of administration and doses:

In a conjunctival sac. On 1–2 drops as required. In the absence of effect it is necessary to stop a drug instillation.

Features of use:

Contact lenses need to be removed before an instillation and to dress in 15 min.

Features of influence of medicine on ability to manage the vehicle or potentially dangerous mechanisms: after an instillation the temporary ambiguity of sight or other visual concerns is possible that it can negatively affect ability to drive the car or other potentially dangerous mechanisms.

In this case it is necessary to wait some time before sight recovery.

Side effects:

Sight misting, passing discomfort; temporary irritation (hyperemia).

Interaction with other medicines:

At purpose of an artificial tear together with other local ophthalmologic drugs it is necessary to observe an interval between instillations, at least, 10-15 minutes.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any of drug components; children's age (there are no data on a possibility of use of drug for children).

Overdose:

At topical administration the overdose is improbable.

Treatment: it is necessary to wash out eyes plentiful amount of warm water.
