Aponeurosis

Aponeurosis [Greek ano-+ neuron – a sinew, a vein, a nerve; aponeurosis – PNA (The anatomic nomenclature Parisian), BNA (The anatomic nomenclature Basel), JNA (The anatomic nomenclature Yenskaya); synonym: tendinous stretching]:

  • Wide connective tissue plate which consists of the dense elastic and collagenic fibers located, mostly, in parallel each other. The aponeurosis serves for connection of wide muscles with bones or other fabrics;
  • Dense fascia.
