Baro-otitis

Baro-otitis (barootitis; Greek barys – weight, pressure + ous, otos – an ear) – the inflammation of a middle ear caused by sharp fluctuation of atmospheric pressure (explosion, a shot, rise or descent of the airplane, etc.); characteristic signs are noise, pain and a ring in ears, relative deafness of the sound carrying out type, hemorrhages in a drum cavity, in certain cases a rupture of a tympanic membrane.
