Benthos

Benthos (Greek benthos depth) – set of the organisms inhabiting a bottom of reservoirs; can be vegetable (phytobenthos) and an animal (zoobenthos) with the inhabitants living on soil or in bottom soil; some of representatives of a benthos are ranked as owners of such causative agents of helminthoses of the person as an opisthorchosis and a fascioliasis; larvae of many blood-sicking insects belong to a benthos.
